This was a great overview Ive recently got one second hand. I am considering taking off my ZWO EAF completely and just doing any big movements by hand. Im guessing once your in range for whatever your imaging DSO or Planets then you dont need any big shifts unless your again changing your imaging train a bit ? Cheers again

You don't need the EAF. Just set the esatto at mid position, find rough focus with the knob, then completely forget about the knob. You won't need it anymore unless you radically change the imaging train's length, which requires physical presence anyway. Leaving the EAF there just opens up the possibility to move it by mistake by selecting the wrong com port, besides adding weight exactly where you don't want it (SCTs are back-heavy by themselves). Just take it out, not needed.

Very nice review. It seems to be a good focuser. For hyperstar users like me, it’s not useful, but otherwise would be on my top choices.

It is an attempt to keep the scope cold. Thermal currents in the tube from heat ruins images, especially at high magnification for planetary captures.

So I can dial in focus as close as I can. The ZWO EAF allows me to move the primary mirror using large movements to focus as close as I can. Then i use the Esatto for the more refined focusing needed. The Esatto has limiting focus range and i can't use it if the focus wildly out

2 EAF on one scope that’s a first haha

Useful review, but the music is very distracting and annoying.
