Britain’s Graham Jarvis has claimed victory at the Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble in Austria, round three of the World Enduro Super Series. Delivering a clinical performance at the 25th edition of the infamous Hard Enduro race, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing star led home Germany’s Manuel Lettenbichler and Sherco Factory Racing’s Mario Roman.
Returning to Hard Enduro, the iconic Erzbergrodeo marked the third stop in this year’s race to become the ULTIMATE ENDURO CHAMPION. The world’s best Enduro riders were among an entry of 1702 competitors (including 49 women) from 43 nations that converged to the quiet mining town of Eisenerz for the annual four-day dirt bike festival.
Following two days of the Blakläder Iron Road Prologue qualification, championship leader Josep Garcia proved the fastest of the 500 qualifiers for Sunday’s Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble.
From the depths of the Europe’s largest iron ore quarry, competitors blasted off the start line for the 35-kilometre long race. With four hours to complete the 27 checkpoints dotted around the Iron Giant, it was Lettenbichler who was first to set the pace, taking over from Garcia and Jonny Walker shortly after the start.
Pushing hard, the 21-year-old German tried to break away from the pack, but with 44-year-old Jarvis at his best, Lettenbichler found himself trailing the Husqvarna rider as they entered the notorious Carls Dinner section.
Delivering a master class in the monstrous boulder garden, Jarvis broke clear of Lettenbichler in second, while the Sherco pairing of Roman and Wade Young were locked in a tight battle for third.
However, Lettenbichler - chasing his debut win - was undeterred and worked hard to reel Jarvis back in, drawing level at Green Hell with just four checkpoints to go. But Jarvis had a little energy in reserve to keep the youngster at bay and secure a record-equalling fifth Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble win.
Finishing just over two minutes behind, Lettenbichler’s runner-up result provisionally moves him into the WESS championship lead with three rounds complete. Putting in an impressively strong ride during the second half of the race, round one winner Mario Roman was able to cement his position of third and secure a debut podium result in the race.
Also finding his rhythm after Carls Dinner, Spain’s Alfredo Gomez was able to work his way past Wade Young to eventually finish fourth. Despite holding a podium position at the halfway stage in the race, Young slipped down the leader board to round out the top five.
After a bad start, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak worked his way back into contention to take sixth, while Billy Bolt rounded out the top seven. In total, 16 competitors from seven nations completed this year’s Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble.
The World Enduro Super Series continues with round four, Spain’s Hixpania Hard Enduro on June 21-23.

I'm an old biker i'm 70 now. I used to ride Fireblades + track days. My son rode schoolboy MX for seven years. so i've had some fun. But when I look at Grahams Enduro Vids I'm getting the urge.

What a freaking stud Graham is. I was riding local trials back on 2000 and I followed him on the pro tour. 20 years later he's killing it in enduros. Amazing! Truly old guys rule!

Yes the riders are improving but so are these new bikes and even tires.. Every yr or two we see improvements with technology making hills that were impossible possible.. Between riders and these bikes getting better by the yr it truly is mind blowing how far we've come in the last thirty yrs..

He leads the WESS now with his consistency - one of the best all-round riders so far this year. Will he win the series in 2019? Time will tell.

I'm just getting in this kind of sport, I'm 28 this year, Graham still riding at the age of 44, he is an inspiration for late comer like me.. Lets hope I can be like him some day.. Have a lot to sacrifice but lets hope I can manage..

Jarvis can appreciate all those rocks that everyone is struggling on. How many finishers skipped a checkpoint? I watched Jarvis' race and Roman's race, Roman skipped a checkpoint right before Green Hell.

Jarvis went through a checkpoint that was subsequently closed for safety reasons. Many didn't have to do it. It saved Manny around 6 minutes.

Really disappointing way to cover this race, Red Bull. Too many cutaways to footage and slo-mo shots with no context, not enough actual race coverage.

yea track marshals move the flag so Jarvis cant see it and than gave him the wrong way to go all so the German can close up to him and beat him but the old dog still kicked there asses

What an noncompetitive competition, a complete joke. Motorcycles are to be ridden up & down gnarly trails not pushed, not thrown to the top of a hill, not lifting the front tire out from between rocks its wedged between. Some of the inclines looked like they were 30 degrees from vertical. This didn't show any riding skill at all. It was almost all clearing the goggles of mud & getting run over by the rider behind you. This is an insult to the sport & skill required to ride a rideable technical course through woods, creek, hills valleys & such. A real Hare Scramble. Not something just for the viewers amusement & the deliberate & intentional peril to the rider.
Strangely Red Bull has the worst coverage of their own event! 26 min vid to cover a 2 hour 30 min long race and fills the vid with everything else than the actual race or battle fo the podium.
