Nathan Watson delivers the goods to claim a home win at round six of the World Enduro Super Series, the Hawkstone Park Cross-Country. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider showed his class on the physically demanding Shropshire course to take victory over Germany’s Manuel Lettenbichler and Jonny Walker.
Placing as runner-up in Great Britain, Lettenbichler extends his lead in this year’s race to become the ULTIMATE ENDURO WORLD CHAMPION.
With Saturday’s Sprint Enduro qualifiers done and dusted it was time to get down to business for the Original Fast Eddy Cross-Country race. Saturday’s glorious weather gave way to scattered showers, but it did little to dampen the race action.
As riders blasted off the Hawkstone Park start line, it was Gas Gas’ Alex Snow who took the initial holeshot with Walker and the ensuring pack of riders close behind. There was immediate drama when both Watson and 2018 winner Josep Garcia were slow to start. Watson fared better than his teammate and was quickly mid pack, while Garcia had work to do after leaving the start in last position.
By the end of lap one, Walker was in the lead but Watson was up to second with Lettenbichler, Taddy Blazusiak and Snow chasing. Garcia was battling through the field and closing in on the top-10. A lap later and Watson was out front.
Exiting the mid-distance fuel stop of the two-hour and 30-minute race, Watson had increased his advantage to over one-minute from Lettenbichler and Walker. Controlling the pace for the second half of the race, he rode on to take a memorable win with Lettenbichler and Walker rounding out the podium.
Behind the top three, Blazusiak put in a strong charge in the closing stages to take fourth, with Garcia regrouping following his bad start to place fifth. Snow showed his pace for sixth, while Eurotek KTM’s Will Hoare impressed with seventh.

Where the hell are all the other bikes? Might as well name it the ktm/husqvarna series. Japanese need to tailor some bikes to offroads.

@@RedBullMotorsports Anything would be great and one in the US. would be fantastic also. Hard Enduro is the pinnacle of dirtbike racing much better than track racing in my opinion. Let IT GROW !!!

Red Bull Motorsports , I’m not exactly sure maybe some of you guys would be able to choose the perfect location. Maybe somewhere in the Vic high country or some place other that is tough to navigate and explore.

Being from aus as well I'd love it, but honestly we don't really have the landscape for it. I thought we did but once i went to europe i realised the stuff we ride here is pretty tame haha

I was hoping you would put the Footage of Garcia clipping a back marker going over a log. I helped pick his bike up. Could of been famous for 5 seconds on red bull tv. Great vid. Brilliant day

I love these videos and the comment by Mani L. concerning the race getting too tuff "Sometimes you have to kick your own ass" to keep going. Now that is the thinking of a winner. If it can't be Jarvis let it be Mani L. for the WESS Championship this year.

The opening clip really hit me, because the first thing I do when I crash is hop right to my feet and pick my bike up. Not that I'm crazy fast or anything , but I feel like that is the drive to win races... Not caring about anything and pushing forward as hard as you can. Like, if you get injured, totally understandable, you're gonna know it straight away. I just don't understand the guys/gals that will just lay there to make sure they're alright, losing minutes..

One last thing redbull. You have a deal with ktm and husky. We get it. But you could showcase riders from other brands. You could do a better contrast of amateur and pro. You guys really have something here. Do it right.

Cale Guenther You realise that KTMs finished 1st -5th?! If there was one race they were going to go KTM crazy it was this one. The problem is Sherco don’t have a factory presence at every race (they’re too busy sending Wade and Mario over to America) and GasGas, Honda etc only have privateer entrants so it’s a bit of a KTM/Husky championship.

I do realize this. But still. It goes with the idea of longer videos and more coverage of everyone.it feels short, choppy and only geared towards the two top brands. Which again I get sponsorships. But they can make it more like a live sports analysis and less like blurbs for top KTM riders. I will refer you to the 2016 hour coverage of erzberg.

Cale Guenther I hear you. In their defence, they announced at the start of the season that they would only have full coverage at a couple of the rounds. I think it’s because Erzberg is a huge internationally renowned even in it’s own right, like Romaniacs, but hey, I’d love them to cover the whole season like that... maybe they will next year. It’s a shame more manufacturers don’t support WESS but as it’s dominated by RedBull and KTM advertising etc, they probably feel they’re better off in Enduro GP and the national championships. I’d love to see TM, Sherco, GasGas etc all competing against KTM/Husky.

Thorn Carnegie Haha I realised that after I commented but couldn’t be bothered to re-edit... I hoped no-one would call me out on it! They do deserve a mention though, especially having just dominated the Enduro GP season with Holcombe and Freeman!

Jarvis I think also knows he cant afford to wreck. At his age the recovery would take too long. And wouldn't be as good. He knows this isnt his race. So just get good numbers and keep healthy.

I was at the Sea to Sky last week and watching this over S2S sucked hard. WESS needs races like S2S. Adding Getzen Rodeo was a wise move and hope you keep adding races like that not this motocross crap...

I agree with you but I can see why they did it. The point of the championship is for the winner to be the best all round rider not the best at hard enduro. However, I totally agree that hard enduro is the best dirt bike riding.

@@bkrsrky yeah, I can see your point but some people might want to see who the best all-around rider is. I do think that races like Romanians and the Erzberg are more interesting and impressive.
Would be even better without the annoying music
