Ryan Miller I can hear him perfectly well in every Pantera album I can recall hearing. With metal in general, the bass isn't typically as prominent as in some other genres, and with Rex in particular, I don't think he likes to be the focal point (listen to the mixes in this video, I'm assuming those are his own, and he is very much filling a supporting role). That said, with a good stereo or a good pair of headphones, he can be heard loud and clear if you can tell the difference between guitar and bass tones, in everything I've ever heard him recorded on.

I put a lot of money into Ernie Ball over the years, just because so many artists use them. But I honestly never really liked most of them, and their "reinforced" ones are bogus as well. - D'Addario is similar but a little better. - But DR... Dime was onto something. I have played a bunch of DR-sets, including Dime's signature-set, and they're all just great. From the feel to the sound and consistency. I was pleasantly surprised. - Dunlops are great as well. You really don't need to go with the major companies like Ernie Ball and D'addario or Gibson and Fender or Canon and Nikon etc. - They make fine stuff, but not necessarily the best just because they're the biggest.

I hate hippies... my point of view is Pantera could find a better bassist...a metal bassist. But its history now... he wasn't a special bass player. Not good as Dimebag on guitar or Phil on the vocal...

You're tripping man, Rex held it down for Pantera. There'd be no Pantera without any 4 of those guys. They each contributed greatly in creating music together. Rex was the glue and kept the rhythm going while Dime was soloing. He wasn't always hippish, he's obviously older now and changed his style. If Dime was alive he probably would of ventured into country believe it or not. They don't have to stay one dimensional for their whole lives. Phil however bleeds metal, if it wasn't for him Pantera would if never transitioned into the legendary metal band they are today.
