    Ajax is not the PSG of Netherlands. They are the part of big three alongwith PSV and Feyenoord. Also, look at Ajax after Ten Haag. They finished outside of European spots, Overmaars was sacked, Van der Saar stressed out with a heart attack, 5 different managers appointed, and they still end losing to Heereneven on the weekend. Ten Haag did a phenomenal job when you look at that. Also, he won 2 doubles, in 2 years, no manager did that in Netherlands.

    Absolutely. People tend to look past ETH’s achievements at Ajax because Ajax have the reputation of being the only top dog in a league that isn’t as widely watched in India.

    So called only team in France Bottled the title race With 7 points top and a game in hand PSG bottled the title To Galtier's lille Do we really speak of Tottenham's title charge during Leicester's title winning era? Common aspect : Pochettino was the manager for both So pretty rich of Neville to question a manager who won title domestically although smaller league but still won it unlike darling of media Pochettino

    one thing that is not spoken enough is the development of players under Eth. garnacho, dalot, etc. Some players have massively improved and have become important to the team because of him and how he has recieved undeserved scrutiny for some of the losses where players let him down

    Fully agree, which is what I said on the pod as well. Even at Ajax, ETH was good with developing young players, and that's why he was brought to United. Some players will always let the manager down. The key is to have a robust structre at the top that can get rid of those players ASAP and bring in replacements without breaking the bank.

    What do you mean Ajax in netherlands is like PSG in France?? Can you show me any signs Ajax was dominating Edervirse before Ten Hag??? They were nowhere in CL. Ten Hag gave that club a shape, an identity. He is regarded as one of the best managers in Ajax history. SHUT UP YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT A MANAGER.

    Having listened to the corner flag from the past two years, I think Amogh is the only guy with some serious ball knowledge. I don’t remember his name atm but the Everton fan is also quite good. The other guys and the guests they get seem to have silly takes and makes me wonder if they actually watch football and follow other games especially since it’s a podcast aimed at covering most but if not all PL matches. I can understand that they’re good for banter and after all, they have to get more views and subscribers but I would definitely love it if we can hear more serious analysis and opinions on games especially from Amogh. It’s a great podcast and a good listen all the time. This is just my humble opinion, hope it’s taken well.

Secondly, I understand your point and we’ll work towards it. The idea is that we balance out the serious with the frivolous and exaggerated, and that’s the core essence of the podcast. But, we’ll make sure we collectively also up our game! Thanks for being a regular listener, and for writing in!

    1:49 there was very easy counter to this. Ajax is not PSG of Netherlands ETH made them that dominant. They were not winning anything for 4 years before eth arrived and now they are not winning anything after eth left. They are in absolute shambles. Also as far as Europe goes he took ajax to semi finals by beating defending champions real madrid and also cr7 Juventus. So definitely eth has what it takes only this what we have to give him is time and some patience.

    Jose was not sacked at Roma because of results, there were internal politics dealing with fiscal issues surrounding the team. Jose was the scapegoat. Even now, Romanistis chant his name, and there are Jose back posters surrounding Stadio Olimpico.

    ETH failing to consistently address the tactical issues is the biggest problem. Last season was a great, but the issues the team faces now wont be solved only through buying players. Even in the last few games where we ve had stronger 11s the team still played very similarly, and there is no indication the performances are improving, it isnt looking like sustainable and if ETH fails to make UCL, United should try and move for Flick or Nagelsmann.

  • @CornerFlagPod

    @CornerFlagPod

    I disagree. I feel there definitely is a slight improvement. Of course, that will only be cemented if we bring consistency - which is something we haven't had. Like I mentioned on the podcast, injuries have had a big part to play in that. All through the season we have been ravaged with long term injuries to key players. We need to be prepared to weather the storm, and that can only happen if the fanbase and the ownership back the manager. Also please no Flick or Nagelsmann ya. Doing well with Bayern isn't a yardstick. Flick destroyed the German national team. Nagelsmann is too young, and with the players we have, he'll lose the dressing room VERY quickly. As Ronaldo says, 'calma'. Trust ETH for now. Even if he fails to make UCL. Let's see what he does next season with a competent DoF and the new 25% ownership.

    @@CornerFlagPod Tbh I am not hardcore Eth out or anything, injuries have hampered us big time, but even with all players back the team still maintains all the issues which affected us, that is something to worry about. If we as common fans can predict our obvious weaknesses why isnt Eth fixing is a question. Like our cut back issues, an incoherent press(even from last season), swapping Maguire for RCB when he is good at Left and Var/Lindf more comf at RCB, the pressing is a huge issue since its been 2 years.. principles should ve been put in place in 2 seasons. Plus there is a limited set of managers out there who has high level exp at big clubs, Flick and Nagelsmann is the only one I can think of who are gettable. De Zerbi ll be a gamble, Alonso won't come.

  • @CornerFlagPod

    @CornerFlagPod

    I feel like the issues we fans point out are issues that even the management has noticed. I feel in general a majority of our players are too slow in picking up systems that the coach wants. In a situation like this, the ideal scenario would be to sell on the underperforming players and buy new ones, but again that becomes super tough with the lack of a competent footballing structure at the top. De Zerbi is doing quite okay with Brighton, but again - the Brighton structure is one of the best in England if not Europe. Their player identification and transfer acumen is next level. If he came to united a year or two ago, he would have failed spectacularly. With the new ownership…let’s see. Again, it’s early days. We don’t know how it’ll impact the club. Early signs are positive yes but I’m not going to jump to conclusions either way.

    @@CornerFlagPod There could be arguments made for players lacking tactical acumen, but similar arguments could be made for Eth as well, Utd never really control games, even with lesser opponents, when we are leaking so many goals Eth has never addressed it with a proper defensive structure. Many of the pundits and popular analysts all point out how Utd is bad at rest defense and how interpretation of ETH with regards to turnovers and game states is different. The best tactical feat till now remains the Liverpool game last season, we re yet to see Utd imposing themselves in matches. The team for some reason just wilts away and even though ETH is the best tactical manager we have had this has to be among the worst Utd teams in terms of mentality, some of it is the players but you have to ask if it is also the manager as well.

  • @CornerFlagPod

    @@sanjaysandhosh5495 Fair. It would be foolish to not ask questions of the manager at all. Having said that, United need a massive rebuild and that takes time. We’re seeing a slow but sure uptick in form so I’m going to wait and see how ETH does for the rest of the season.

    No player is above the manager. ABSOLUTELY correct. Unfortunately we live in a footballing era where manager longevity is no longer a thing. What SAF did will probably never be replicated. Even Klopp is leaving after 9 seasons. As fans we need to be realistic and give managers time, yes, but also be prepared for a succession plan. As long as the ownership and DoF identify the correct manager to take the place of the current manager whenever the time comes, as a club we will be stable and sustainable.

    ETH should be given more time. Under new ownership and with some good signings, everything can change. That's why we need a good sporting director who can advise ETH on which players will work and which won't. We should have accepted, post-Ole and post-Ralf, that with ETH, it won't be a smooth ride. But the end goal is what matters. Arteta is a prime example of what happens when you give time and have patience with a manager, along with some good signings. The same applies to Klopp and Liverpool.
