Eric Weinstein & Michael Shermer: UFO DEBATE!

Ғылым және технология

What is the nature of the abundant accounts of unexplained aerial phenomena? Are they harbingers of advanced extraterrestrial engineering, math, and physics, beyond our standard model? Or is there a more prosaic, though no less significant explanation, ranging from military operations, unreliable witnesses, or confirmation bias? Is our government sharing all it knows? Or is there really anything 'there' there?
Beyond wanting to believe, do we have any evidence for our beliefs?

U need to do your own research on this subject. U need to get through all the fake news, debunkers with no education, you have to check FOI records, old CIA documents and understand who is telling the truth and who is part of the deep state that just want to brainwash civilians. Mankind’s history is far more in-depth than what we have been told. There was a civilization here that was more advanced than us that are no longer here. If you study Graham Hancock or Randy Carlson along with many more people then you’ll start to get the idea of what was here before us. Good luck in your endeavours. There are other forms of consciousness already here and have been for thousands of years. ALL “debunkers” (who are not skeptics), just lightly skim over topics but still firm opinions which is very easy to pick apart. Most skeptics like Eric have great questions. We really need to move past this and start contacting the other entities. Figure out the W-5’s.

The zoom function on the FLIR pod is NOT like a normal camera! At no point does the POD lose track of the object when zooming x2. This is a misconception by Shermer and Mick who know little about how these systems work. Speak to fighter pilots or technicians who work with them. Alternatively, load up DCS World Sim and fly the F/A 18 Hornet and learn to use the FLIR pod.

Two fighter pilots: "This is way better than the sims we use in the Navy": kzread.info/dash/bejne/qZWZm7uzgbuwcbQ.html Again, you do some KZread searchers and Google searchers and you'll find fighter pilots comment on how good DCS World is. As a nurse of 25+ years, on the short side of completing a NP degree, I feel the same way; except I am so repulsed by what I’ve witnessed with Covid, and then/now with this vaccine. I have lost all faith in medicine. In fact, I hear and see more integrity, values, and ethics from Ph.D’s. MD’s/medical community appear to be cowing down to threat’s instead of upholding our oath to “do no harm”. As a female, I did not grow up thinking about being drafted/having to fight in a war to protect my country, it’s values, humanity-but with every passing day, I welcome and frankly, am ready-it’s long past due; that.we the people unite and revolt every facet of this agenda being shoved down our education, healthcare, agriculture; everything seemingly reliant upon the government as a primary revenue source-the trend I keep circling back to is national gov’t involvement.

I'm a retired Navy cryptologist. In July of 2000, I was outside just after sunset when a "tictac" UFO passed over my parents' house at a slow jogging pace about 10 feet above the roof ridge. It was a cylinder about the length of two mini vans bumper to bumper and had rounded ends. There were no wings, engines, windows, or seams. It made no sound and gave off a soft bluish light, not unlike neon. If it was one of ours , it is some next level $hit.

We dont what they saw. All we know is what they think they saw. If you've ever seen the Braingames series on National Geographic Channel, it becomes very clear to you how your own mind can cause you to see things that are not there, or see things the incorrect way, with naturally occurring optical illusions. Something that was 2 inches long might have been misinterpreted as "40 feet" long, due to the lack of perspective when flying over the featureless open ocean . I've done plenty of mushrooms and acid, so I know what it's like to experience illusions, and sometimes full blown hallucinations, depending on the lighting in a room. So I'm not wildly impressed by two people saying that they briefly saw something weird while they were flying in jets at 700 miles per hour over the sea. Even if we assume that they DID in fact see something real, then what they saw was most likely a hologram or some other form of classified technology being tested on the two pilots by the naval high command. Finally, there is always the possibility that the story is simply fabricated, and that the two pilots are Naval intelligence officers, and are part of a propaganda effort against the American public by the u.s. government. Aliens travelling across the galaxy to troll navy pilots for a few seconds is about a one in a trillion chance. There are thousands of more likely explanations. 500 years ago, people used to see "angels" and jesus everywhere. And ghosts and spirits. aliens are the modern version of those sightings

I say this as a critical thinking fan, career physical chemist and at least moderately well-established research scientist. I admire Dr. Weinstein's logic and openness here. With a bit more reading, perhaps some of J. Vallee's books, perhaps field notes from NIDS, he will soon be within range of getting all the corners of the sheet to fit. @Thomas Freeman I agree that evidence is key. But notice that the claim Weinstein is making is not, "we are being visited by aliens". The claim is that the scientific community has been denied the proper data that is needed for the right people to evaluate this phenomenon. And for that claim there is plenty of evidence. People should be demanding more transparency and data sharing from the government, and I think Weinstein is correct to be upset about that.

Not a few blurry videos that can be explained by glare and other phenomena. Are you aware of how unreliable and stupid humans can be? History is littered with story after story depicting absolute nonsense that large numbers of humans are committed to. Witches, trolls, the walking dead, gnomes, dragons, contradictory religions, etc etc. Aliens happen to be what is popular now. @Thomas Freeman ‘ one theory is that there would be panic’. Well certainly to my mind anyway you’ve hit the nail on the head. I believe what we are witnessing now is the roll out of disclosure to a tightly controlled narrative aimed to avoid exactly what you describe. I’ve been around this subject for a long time as I had the fortune (or misfortune depending on what way you look at it) to see a saucer come right overhead at 1,000 feet one evening in the 70’s. Trump is the one who pushed the green light on this, if you don’t think so see the ‘Phil Larson declaration’ issued out by the Obama/Biden administration in 2011. All credit to Micheal Shermer for stepping up to the plate to bat against what is and will be a continuing stream of data being outed designed to acclimatise the inhabitants of this planet that we are not alone and most likely never have been. Something I’ve known for over 50 years. The conversation is only going to get more interesting and profound.

@Thomas Freeman sounds a good philosophy to be honest. I believe that the fear of panic is overplayed. There are always going to be people in society who will find it difficult to handle a paradigm shift. A survey was done some time back and they over found over 60% of US citizens believed in a UFO presence. My two friends and I were 1% when we saw this craft, I’m now in my mid 60’s, I want to see the enigma of my lifetime solved before I pass on. These craft are real, run silently and some look exactly as Bob Lazar described them.

How the discussion came off to me was of 2 people who are trying to make the facts fit their conclusions and thus limiting any serious consideration and immediate dismissal of glaring other facts. Smugly ignoring countless credible testimonies and falling back on “Occams Razor” like its some how a law of nature. If Occam’s razor was a law and determined the progression/direction of scientists, then we would have stopped with Newton and everyone would have dismissed/ignored Einstein the way keiting and shurmer do to anyone who makes any claims about UFO’s. Eric is making a good faith appeal to a scientific approach to the topic when a lot of the data is fuzzy and you can see how defensive they get and the gymnastics they’re doing to not address the fundamental question Eric’s asking. One example being, what does the incompetence of the pentagon have to do with the evidence that UFO’s are real? Or what does it matter the motives behind the writers of the NYTimes column have to do with the facts behind the events? It’s like Eric is playing checkers and they are playing pick up sticks.

This dissatisfaction with Navy Fighter pilot footage being grainy and out of focus. Is to discredit it being a UFO/UAP . Now remember these UFO/UAP operate in the vastly space we call the sky where we don’t spend our natural time in. Unless your a pilot and that’s for just hours in a day. And they’ve been known to travel faster then anything we operate. So they are high in the sky and ridiculously fast. How do you expect to get a great high definition exposure ? Think about that. Your best camera phone does not have the great zoom capability. And as you know the more you zoom in on something at a distance the image gets worst and if your not on a tripod it’s so sensitive to shakiness. And know if the public where shown a detailed high definition image of a UFO/UAP. It would be discredited by the skeptics as fake and photoshopped. Thank you for your time.

He's indirectly pointing the finger at Shermer, who is the biggest advocate for head in the sand dismissal of even the most creditable cases like those that disrupt our nuclear weapons. Equipment that is designed to let the airforce positively spot and follow anything and everything within their airspace. They lock onto real, physical objects that are there, that are able to manoeuvre in ways and with a speed that we have no clue on how to replicate. And finally, when the military and mainstream media are actually willing to openly talk about it these snobs complain about it. They have been smirking and ridiculing people who have been talking about this for decades and now when actual, credible information hits mainstream they are irritated about it and tries to twist the whole issue into something political.

Unfortunately this conversation happened 2 years too early! Especially Michael Shermer's contributions didn't age well! I have been very familiar with his brand of ultra-skepticism for two decades, and I have to say that his outputs sometimes skirt the realms of intellectual vandalism! I have actually talked my physicist husband into unsubscribing the "Skeptical Inquirer" because of it's pervading intellectual disonesty! I don't think that he fully adopted my pov - but I guess he grew tired of the magazine's constant rehashing of the same old battle ground! Post David Grusch's statements we are in a very strange corner: if his incredible stories are actually true, we aren't very far from a fundamental paradigm shift. Eric Weinstein has already apologized for his earlier tendencies of ridiculing certain UFO communities. But let's assume that David Grusch's claims are not true: personally I exclude that he was actually lying under oath - which could actually result in a jail sentence - but he might not have been given genuine material, and he may have been told a bunch of lies! In this case we have to assume that some shadowy factions within the Pentagon and the Secret Service have been orchestrating a long-running disinformation campaign in order to fool friends and foes into believing that the US is in possession of 👽 👽 👽 or at least non-human technology! But wouldn't that be one of those whacky conspiracy theories which Michael Shermer is so fond of ridiculing just as much as ridiculing those who believe that UFOs are real?? But he cannot have it both ways! It's either UFOs and non-humans or a giant turd of a conspiracy! Eric Weinstein is the only one of the trio who has fully understood this! And say what you will about Eric Weinstein - the guy is willing to change his mind and he is also willing to leave his comfort zone!
