He plays so much better here than he has with the band over the last 15 years. They had him slow down and simplify until there’s no personality left.

That's because he's SO GOOD with his kick. Bass drum is consistently on the bass and he can work everything else with melody or fills as he sees fit.

Watch any of the latest tour vids and he looks bored out of his fuckin' mind. Can't get ahead of Paul's taped vocals 'cuz that would be bad.

Singer is so much better than Criss, it's not funny. It's like the difference between a Tour De France Cyclist and a kindergartner with training wheels.

Eric Carr was the backbone of Kiss in the 80’s. Monster drummer. Carr wanted to play much heavier. He was into Metallica and a heavier sound than Kiss played, but because of that it did push them to be a heavier band. Singer is similar to Carr, although I think Singer incorporates more “stage playing” in his drumming, which is cool, makes it a little more visually stimulating for the audience. Carr’s sound was more booming, especially live, Singer’s style while more visual, is a little less frenetic. Both great rock drummers. Don’t be to quick to piss all over Peter Criss. Peter’s style came from more of a swing background, which gave the early Kiss records a cool sort of funkier sound. While some of their later records were heavier, the Kiss Alive era sound is still their best sound, and what their audiences continually want to hear. That is in no small part to Peter’s drumming. While not as technical in triplets, double bass, and alot of what rock drumming has morphed into, Peter played polyrhythms with a cool sort of funky/swing vibe.
