And the absolute best rendition _like ever_ by the two players responsible for the song. This is seriously as good as it gets. What a lineup, and every single performer on the stage was locked in and there wasn't a blemish throughout the entire piece. Winwood and Clapton were in a mind meld, each taking a back seat during the other's solo, and then as a duo neither one out-shown the other; _perfect_ technique and timing. At the end you could see the look on their faces like "Yeh, nailed it." They most certainly did that night.

@@FrogUncle264 Indeed, especially in Trucks's case. I've always felt that nobody could do blues on a Stratocaster like Eric Clapton; but Derek on slide is _lights. out._ He and Susan Tedeschi together are a marvel. Then again Derek's been a stage guitarist since he was like 12, so he's had a zillion opportunities to hone his craft. Derek always HAS been humble. He is not a stage hound and is more than happy to play 2nd fiddle to his wife, who is a generational talent in her own right. Just a quiet family man who happens to play guitar for a living.

Yipper, exactly what I've been saying. It seems almost sacrilegious to compare Blind Faith's original to this rendition since the tone, Clapton's choice of acoustic, and Ginger Baker's influence on the original was so different. Not better or worse, just different. But this one could easily have _been_ the original and been just as good if not more memorable.

He has worked with Clapton over the last 20 years, toured with Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and grew up in a house with Stevie Ray and Jimmy Vaughn and played with both. His playing style is very unique in that he is right-handed, but plays his guitar left-handed with the strings strung wrong side up (fat strings at the bottom). If you want to check him out some great songs of his are: "Everything You Need", "Mama Can't Help You", "Cry" or "In My Time Of Dying". Or if you want to see him with Eric Clapton look up "Eric Clapton - Badge [Eric Clapton’s Crossroads 2019]", "Eric Clapton - Got To Get Better In A Little While [Official Live at Crossroads 2013]" or "Eric Clapton - Little Queen of Spades (Crossroads 2007)" Sorry for rambling on...

Clapton, Winwood and Trucks all playing in the pocket is sooo sweet man, they nailed this song. Love this song and I play it regularly as it soothes my soul and is a great song the way these guys did it with the back up singers. Friggin beautiful ... thanks for sharing Jamal.

I'm was brought up with music in Britain and remember when Steve Winwood was voted best R & B singer by New Musical Express (which was the pop music bible at the time) when he was just sixteen. Keep on running was his big hit at the time with Spencer Davis Group. Steve's just recently turned 73 bless him. I've got him by five years at 78. I love that the British music scene from those years, is still getting the recognition it deserves.

Definitely one of the best performances of this song. I love the original, but Winwood just keeps making it better every live performance. Jamel, if you love Steve Winwood, try the cover of "Gimme Some Lovin'" he did when he was with the band Traffic from 1971, you won't be disappointed!

Yes---Derek Trucks... Doyle Bramhall on guitars. Willie Weeks on the Bass. Notice the little nod Steve gives Eric at the end...he knew it was pretty nice.

I have loved this song since I got the Blind Faith album so many years ago. I have listened to many artists cover the song, many versions are wonderful. I think this is possibly the best I have ever heard. The musicianship is superb, with everyone a master, unselfishly and seemingly, effortlessly contributing to this beautiful rendition.

Great song. If you like Steve Winwood's voice try listening to some of his early songs with Spencer Davis Group such as Together Till The End Of Time; Nobody Knows You When You Are Down And Out; Gimme Some Lovin (the original UK recording not the US version) and instrumentals such as Blues In F; On The Green Light. Try live Clapton from Derek And the Dominoes Live at The Fillmore and the album Just One Night

Doyle Bramhall Sr was Jimmie Vaughan’s buddy and bandmate since high school, and he wrote songs for Stevie Ray and played drums on the Vaughan Brothers’ only album. His son, Doyle Bramhall II was born in Dallas, grew up around the Vaughans, and has played with everyone, including Derek Trucks. He’s in Clapton’s touring band and is in this video. Derek Trucks grew up with the Allman Brothers, joined them when he was 19, and quit a few years ago to play with his wife. He was also in Clapton’s touring band here. On this tour supposedly, Clapton picked songs for Winwood to play and vice versa. Greatness.

@@brandib8465 Thank you. I am familiar with her, and she is a great blues artist. She must be, for Derek to quit the Allman Brothers Band to play with her, even if they are married! I lived in Austin for many years, but I didn’t know she’d played with Double Trouble. I saw them play with WC Clark, Lou Ann Barton, Buddy Guy, BB King, Stevie and Jimmie Vaughan of course, and Arc Angels. I missed them playing with Susan Tedeschi, Billy Gibbons, Sue Foley,... and U2 (at Antone’s one night late ‘80s). I will check that out, and thank you again.

This was from Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, hence why there were so many guitarists on stage.. That year had so many iconic, amazing performances it's crazy, including Jeff Beck (with Tai Wilkenfeld on awesome bass) and John Mayer (his "Gravity" at that show was the best I've ever heard him). (Doyle Bramhall was the dark-haired guy next to Trucks.)
