It was early 1972. I was in a noisey bistro on Virginia Beach having a lonely meal. I was 21, and had a girlfriend with whom I knew it would never work out. This song came on. I remember the words and Carl Radies gentle descending bass countermelody. It was a sweet sad moment. Fortunately, I went on with life.

That organ really made this performance.

Thanks for posting. Great performance -- such depth and emotion. One of the many reasons Clapton is and will be such a driving force in music.

I simply love the unplugged version of this song. Live at Budokan. Rocks. You can tell the Heart felt sorrow of Eric. .in his endeavors with Patty. Very cool tune. I find myself listening to this song sometimes at the end of my work day as a long haul truck driver. Slurpping on a couple beers. Cheers Eric and all whom follow rock and roll. Pete

Me too. I have had tickets 2 times different dates and couldn't go either time. I don't miss any concerts so it was odd that it happened 2 times with Eric.
