I met Cantona outside Croydon Crown Court as he was there after he kicked that Palace fan who fully deserved the kick. Swerved work that day when I found out him and Incey were at the court. Waited for hours to get a glimpse of my football hero. As he was leaving court after the verdict Cantona walked out and was immediately mobbed by the press. He proceeded to walk in my direction and I thought to myself now is the one and only time I might get to shake his hand. So I stood my ground whilst reporters were on him like flies, fought my way directly towards Cantona. For a brief moment he stopped as I stuck out my hand and I said something like “nice one Eric we support you” to which he looked at me square in the face and said “Sank you” (French accent for thank you) I’ll never forget that day. He’s a true legend, was then and always will be. Red forever. ❤ Thanks for the video and a reminder of what a gifted and unique footballer he was. One of a kind.

@@andresgarcia6337 In France, Eric Cantona was a very good player but with a very bad character (to put it mildly). I can assure you, English people, that you deserved to appreciate this guy for what he was!

No fan deserves a kick from a player. Regardless. Cantona will only be remembered as a thug. He was lucky to get away with the ban that he had. If it happened today, he'd be jailed and rightly so.
It's amazing what can happen when you stay on your feet instead of falling over - you can actually create something for your team mate, create space for yourself...and even score. Wild
His style of play is so majestic, plays like he owns the pitch.. All hail king Eric
Complete Striker , baller, passer, finisher, vision, IQ , technique , one touch, the family of number 9 who knows how to play football. ( Benzema , Bergkamp, Berbatov , Zlatan , R9 , Suarez , Kane , Kanu ) ❤⚽️

What always amazes me when I watch his videos... He has the body of a CB, a goalkpeeper... Big, kinds looks stiff, you wouldn't assume he can do a lot with the ball... But when he gets it you see he's an artist.

I would've been surprised by this aswell, until I realised he's French, they have a knack for producing technically gifted giants
Cantona is one of the greatest, it inspired a generation.
It wasn't just his skill that impacted the matches and the squad. He's literally the only player I've ever seen to influence a game with his personality.

Really well said, and analysed. Roy Keane was another who had the ability, possibly learned from Cantona, but no one did it like Cantona. Truly legendary. One and only.
Every piece of skill was purposeful. He could’ve totally taken the mick but he was efficient with every touch. Genius!
My favourite player of all time. Kung Fu kicking that Palace spaz made Cantona the all time legend of the game. No one, and I mean no one, will top it. Long live the king 👑
Unbelievable player. If we had stats from back then on how many times he was the 3rd last player to touch the ball before a goal he would be regarded as a much MUCH better player than he is currently. He was the focal point in one of the best teams to ever grace a football pitch. Absolutely unbelievable player.

Totally agree
Même en France, c'est une légende. Un joueur génial ET un poète révolutionnaire. Et en plus, il met d'accord les français et les anglais, hahaha, trop fort !
My fave united player of all time. And for quite a reason I am reminded from this. He always had those extra split second reactions over most defenders. Not the fastest physically but definitely the fastest mentally. All hail the king.
He is like a pure football at it best
Absolute Baller! ….. he had it all confidence, fearless, strong and aggressive. He took no shit from teammates. The perfect professional 🌟💯😎
such a magnificent footballer. he made me fall in love with the game.
What a majestic player! Could hold it up with impeccable vision to bring other players in. Incredible first touch, good in the air, could finish and score some outrageous goals. No wonder Fergie told him he could do what ever he wants!
A totally complete Artist !what else one we say ?
People like to talk s*** about Cantona’s stats and say he was overrated or underperformed in Europe. But just look at his league accomplishments. He won Ligue 1 with Marseille in 1988-89 and 1990-91, ending a 17-year barren spell (Marseille’s last title before this was in 1971-72). He then went to Leeds and won the English First Division in 1991-92, ending an 18-year barren spell (Leeds’ most recent prior title was in 1973-74, and they haven’t won a title since). Then, he famously moved to Manchester United and won four Premier League titles between 1992-93 and 1996-97, ending a 26-year barren spell. The reason why nobody at the time cared about Cantona “only” scoring 165 goals or underperforming in Europe was: a) We didn’t have the level of media coverage, statistical analysis, social media scrutiny, and over-saturation that we do now. All that stuff was genuinely less important than Cantona playing with flair and arrogance, being a leader, and a cultural icon. - stuff that’s difficult to quantify. I didn’t know Cantona’s actual stats when I was ten and I didn’t care. b) He did the most important thing, which was win. He had this weird ability to transform the fortunes of clubs he joined and end long periods without league success. He won seven top-flight league titles with three different clubs (incidentally the same as CR7) over a nine-year period, which is an insanely impressive “stat”, especially considering he was banned for 9 months during that window of time. And in each case, he did it at a club ending a long drought without league titles - he never went to a dominant club and got a fast-track to a medal; he himself was the transformative force.

I love Cantona because it’s never about what an opponent can bring. It’s always about adapting. You got this? Cool I’m going past you. He always adapts, which makes him unstoppable.
In my 50 years on this Wonderful Footballing Planet I’ve had the pleasure of serving two Kings 🤴🏻🤴🏻 Elvis Presley (1935-1977) & Eric Cantona (1966-present) & what a privilege it was 😁 I still laugh to this day when I remember the story my Nana told on the day Elvis was pronounced dead on the tv news apparently I jumped up & started giving it laldy with my air guitar 🎸 I must have really liked him for such a reaction 🕺🏻 ✌🏼💙🙏🏼👍🏼🏴🫶🏼🇺🇸
French flair. Magnificent skill. I've watched videos comps likes this of Zinedine and Ronaldo (Brazilian) and they are all unique and different and phenoms in their own right. It's not easy to say who the best is amongst all of them. But Cantona definitely ranks up there with the cream of the crop. His flair was just so majestical, the lay offs and the soft touches, and the angles wow...Beautiful. Thank you for the video. Would love to see one of Messi and CR7. The beautiful game 🤩.
For someone tough he had a beautiful technique to shoot the ball
Must admit,my favourite premiership player ever this man
“ GENIUS “ They don’t make them like that anymore. Fantastic stuff
THE KING
Gooner here (but half French). Often looked forward to MOTD as much to watch him than anything else. Legend.
Great video showcasing Cantona's dazzling skills, he was so flamboyant and had an aura, I can see why Utd fans loved him so much
Cantona had sublime football skills, very smart, creative and unique as well. If he had been a regular in the France team and winning World Cup medals since 1998 he would’ve been talked about in the same breadth as CR7 and Messi. I am convinced he would’ve been Real Madrid Barca, Inter, AC Milan legend
One of the most talented players I've ever seen. Criminaly underrated. The kids will never know. Him and Bergkamp were the best in that position in their time. The 90s version of Zlatan.

That's a big statement bud,he was great player though but not the best to play in the premier league.
Gifted! First touch!
Plays so effortlessly he makes it look simple and to round it all up he was playing for fun ❤❤❤❤
Ooh aah Cantona, King of Man Utd/OT.
"You'll win nothing with kids." After one season playing with Eric, all the class of 92 were men.
Absolute Baller! 🌟💯😎
A childhood legend with a few good tricks up his "socks". He had a great vision and really played for the team (well at MU). Surprisingly capable of some bursts of acceleration despite his size, nicely highlighted in this tribute (thx!). I think he retired early because he dropped out of the French national team, with the rise of players like Zidane & Djorkaeff ...
I love you for doing this
King Cantona ❤
Make no bones about it this man is sir Alex best EVER signing… absolutely love him…Liverpool fan here… that Kungfu kick did it for me…. Just wish Barnsey and them other black players reacted in similar fashion to all that abuse they received back then… then again they would have started a riot

Men were different then. Much better for it.
The similarity with Ibrahimovic is striking, football- and personality-wise. That frequent use of the exterior of the foot, just to name an example.. But he also has a Bergkamp side. Une main de fer dans un gant de velour.
The king!
Once again an amazing video !
Yeah wow my heads blown, amazing
Super cool cantona
Ohhhh laaaa laaaa King Cantonaaaa
lets be honest, that UTD team back then were great to watch
The man who revolutionised the deep lying forward role
King Cantona. King and the gang best of Man U.
Great times to be a Utd fan. Don't think it it will ever feel that good again even if we get back to the top, I hope it will cos they were great times!

He was like the Michael Jordan of the Premier League. Everything club he touches turns to gold. And every disrespectful fan gets the boots
@ the time best defenders play's against Eric and he was electric one of the greatest of all time.
Lets put his influence into perspective. 91/92 - Plays for Leeds United, Leeds win the English First division. 92/93 - transfers to Manchester Untited, united wins the EPL, 93/94 - First full season for Utd, United wins title by 8 points 94/95 - Suspended for assaulting racist at Crysal Palace, united lose the title to Blackburn by 1 point, 95/96 - Returns from suspension wins the title for united by scoring the only goal for 5 matches (15 points), 96/97 - Plays full season wins the league with united. 97/98 - Catona had retired the precious season, United looses the EPL title to Arsenal by one point. The only other player i have seen with such comparitive influence on a team is Maradona with Napoli and Argetina. Happy to stand corrected though.
Majestic player.
Muy buenos videos, muy completos y detallados. Podrias hacer uno de Mihajlovic o de Fabián O'Neill??
OOH AH Cantona.
Honestly... Mainoo gives me Cantona vibes. He knows what to do, and has the ability to do it like its second nature
There some videos in youtube with the TOP AGRESSIONS of Zinedine Zidane (a leyend in France) but anyone thinks nowadays about zidane as an agreesive footballer (but he really was sometimes). It has a lot to do about the media and the power in the media of the teams he played in.
legend
Too underrated

When footballers actually looked like they enjoyed playing for sport not money
There wouldn’t have been a Man Utd 90s renaissance without Cantona. Fergie needed the maestros skills, confidence and maturity to inspire and mentor the whizz kids. The right player at the right time to lead the charge on the then new EPL.
