Eriba Ocean Drive - caravan review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Eriba Ocean Drive is a bright blue caravan with a cult follow and it is now on British shores. The Eriba Ocean Drive shouts out the message that caravanning is cool!
These are Eriba caravans like nothing before them.
They're special versions of the long-established Touring Troll model, each with a distinctive theme. The first to arrive, unveiled at the February NEC show, was the Rockabilly, coloured red and cream inside and out and guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes.
Eriba says it's a 'rolling ode to the way of life and beat of the 1950s, transforming every trip into a small journey back in time'.

We've been spending some time in the Eriba Ocean Drive, and will be all through March to bring you more videos and reviews about this super, little 'retro-caravan'. We think it will appeal to people who like the thought of a camper van but not the cost of one! What do you think?

Love it. I have a 530 Troll and they are fantastic. We were out just last week and even with the pop top we were cozy and warm. Wouldn't change back to a 'plastic' caravan again!

That's great to know, Tony. We are taking it out to a few places for some fun in March. Good to know it is so cosy!

I've seen comments in other places about only having a fixed bed, I too was put off by that, then I gave it more thought. The under bed storage, will accommodate our folding sun loungers through the exterior hatch (always a problem where to store when out for the day or raining). We can also fit a top opening fridge under neath, never enough fridge space. The bed is way more comfy than the cushion jigsaw arrangement we have in our 420. We decided we can still stretch out on it daytime, but most of the time we are out and about anyway. The idea is not to travel a few hundred miles and stay in the van. So ordered one with lots of extras and getting more sockets installed. My main complaint, not enough sockets, no usb and why no outside bbq gas point anymore? Sockets we are getting sorted but come on Eriba give us back the bbq option!

+Treewithoutabird Yes, the bed on this model is comfortable (the team has slept on it, so we can voich for that!). The storage under the bed is huge, yes, and accessible externally too. We agree about the sockets and external BBQ, given that this van is perfect for spring/summer living, especially with the slots for attaching the table to the caravan outside. 😀

I would like to know how many "young buyers" can afford £20.000.00 + for one of these. This is designed for the wrong market. Hymer should stick to the old style Eriba vans which have proved to be successful and desireable judging by the used caravan market. I bought my 2007 Eriba Triton six years ago and the value has increased by almost £4000.00. Forget the flash interior designs and concentrate on quality. At leat one comment indicates that the quality has gone down since the factory moved to Germany.

We didn't find any issue with the build quality of the Eriba Ocean Drive, David. It was good. It looked and felt like a well-made van. As for the price, that's really down to the individual. We know and work with 'young tourers' who can afford this amount. But, it's whether they want something compact, ideal for two. Or, something bigger for the same price but which gives them room for a growing family, say. Thanks for your comments.

Quite easy! Young people these days have very good jobs on excellent salaries and could easily purchase a 20k caravan. It's no different to financing a car and thousands of young people do that.

Yeah and why oh why did BMW stop making the 2002 and Rolls Royce stop making the 1920 Phantom. And you will not get a Ocean Drive for £20k, I just ordered one with extras and motor mover will be more like £28k. and I'm too old to die young. Build quality looked as good as our 1998 420.

In fact I would say the materials look more hardwearing and draw and door catches much better.
