Was dieses Stück Musik, und diese sehr Weise Darbietung, von allen Beteiligten, in mir auslöst, kann ich gar nicht beschreiben. Es entsteht auf jeden Fall ein Moment, in dem ich diese Welt gerne und ohne Groll verlassen könnte.

Ich bekenne mich zu keiner Religion. Musik von Bach ist vollendete Kunst, und es ist unmöglich, sie nicht zu schätzen und zu lieben, nicht wegen ihrer religiösen Aufladung, sondern für den Hörgenuss und wegen ihrer Bedeutung für unser historisches Erbe.

Goodness what an extraordinary rendering of this wonderful aria. The soloist is acting out Peter's contrition after denying Jesus 3 times. I never thought to see a soloist singing on her knees. She really does bring out Peter's heartfelt sorrow and begging for forgiveness - as do we all when we do wrong.

I think the the theatricality is hokey to the point of embarrassment, just absolutely awful. And, while I really enjoy Kozena’s voice, especially when she sings Bach, I can’t get through this. In my opinion, Julia Hamari’s reverent, gorgeous interpretation reflect the tone of this heartbreaking aria like no other: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4R1y6pyiMu6eMY.html

@@voraciousreader3341 Die von dir empfohlene Version mit Hamari gefällt mir auch sehr gut, allerdings mehr vom musikalischen Gesichtspunkt aus. Die Aufführung hier mit M. Kozena legt mehr Wert auf den spirituellen Inhalt und berührt mich deshalb sehr. Und diese Aufnahme ließ mich zum ersten Mal erkennen, dass das Violinsolo nicht die Klage unterstreicht, sondern den tröstenden Gegenpart bildet...

I'd be interested to know if this was taken from a complete performance of the St. Matthew Passion, or simply a 'one-off' of the 'Erbarme dich' aria. I'm in two minds about "dramatised" versions of oratorio: if you're going to have this, then it has to somehow add something to the music and not detract from it. A potential opera director might have some vivid realisations of parts of the Verdi Requiem for instance. Here - I'm not sure. I would tend to agree with @voraciousreader3341 in that I find the theatricality of this a trifle mawkish, though I am a great fan of M. Kozena, both as a singer and an actress. I just find this to be a misjudged conception, particularly her seeming smile near the end to be offputting, though I'm sure she didn't mean it to be so. In my opinion - as an antidote? - one should go to the YT clip of Magdalena singing this area accompanied on screen by some images by the famed director Tarkovsky - her singing is even better there.

이 연주회는 블루레이를 구매해서 소장하고 있을 정도로 좋아합니다. 특히 이 연주에서는 눈물을 멈추지 못했는데, 이 부분만이 아닌 앞부분에서 베드로가 예수님을 세번 부인하고 괴로워하는 장면과 이어지면서 들었을 때 정말 이루 말할 수 없던 슬픔을 경험하였네요.

She is a beautiful child of God, so earnest and hopefull for God's mercy: Erbarme Dich mein Gott. Her voice and the violin soloist are just stunning and passionate. She delivered, together with the soloist Mr. Stabrawa, a portrait of intense humility; one of supplication; one charged with flame of faith. Hun har én utrolig innlevelse, og én så varm stemme. Vet ikke hvor mange ganger jeg har hørt/sett denne. Johann Sebastian Bach skrev, hva jeg har lest, sine verk til sin "Gud" . Han formidlet dette sterkt her.

Yeah that’s a voice of power indeed. As a musician I can’t imagine being able to focus on the music properly as at the same time acting; doesn’t seem to trouble her though.

The Bible told us to be more mindful of death than joy. Bach certainly provided solace in this respect. But if I am down, should I play soliciting music, or the apposite, joyful music, to raise me from it?

А вы, простите, откуда узнали ради чего он там жил и ради чего обращался, да и остались ли у него остатки после написания этой арии? Музыка прекрасная, но, может, от лица Баха не стоит вещать?
Из всех, в музыке только ее голос, остальные подыгрывают сбоку, певица глубоко раскрывает музыку баха, прекрасная фразировка, вкус, прекрасное владение голосом, гениальная певица. Брависсимо

Performance especial, com sentimento, a profundidade dessa obra exige isso.
Hun har én utrolig innlevelse, og én så varm stemme. Vet ikke hvor mange ganger jeg har hørt/sett denne. Johann Sebastian Bach skrev, hva jeg har lest, sine verk til sin "Gud" . Han formidlet dette sterkt her.

Yeah that’s a voice of power indeed. As a musician I can’t imagine being able to focus on the music properly as at the same time acting; doesn’t seem to trouble her though.

@@jeanparke9373 finally i find a beautiful but normal Bach interpretation.. Great violinist . I grew up where we played and sang the whole 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 notes and not the chopped up like pseudo barock style of today
