Something else that stood out to me about Abby and Luka. Abby lacked stability pretty much her whole life including her childhood and it’s what caused her to be an alcoholic. Taking care of Maggie her whole life wounded her, she also had to look after Eric whom she pretty much raised and then to have him become bipolar as well. Abby even once said she didn’t have many people she could truly count on. When Luka came into her life at right time again, he provided her exactly what she’s been missing. Security stability unconditional love. He was the calming factor to her life who could balance her out when things got tough. He knows her well. It’s why they were so happy second go around. When you take out the balancing calming factor that is Luka , Abby isn’t the type to handle stress well and she will self destruct and drink. It’s her pattern she does when she didn’t have someone to balance her out and since Luka was in Croatia at the time. It’s what caused her relapse after Joes little accident. Hence the “black out” sorry but I always saw that whole mess as her being taken advantage of. My main point to this is, Luka is Abby’s whole world, he balances her out and gives her stability and loves her hard , flaws and all. it’s why they work so well together why the love they share is so intense. Abby gives Luka a kooky humorous side that loves him unconditionally who is the mother to his boy.. Abby needed Luka just as much as he needed her.. their love is forever❤

Luka didnt provide anything stable, heck he even broke up with Abby cause of all her baggage. Luka was much more in love with Sam, and the only reason he ended up with Abby was cause Sam pushed Luka away. Luka was shooting blanks since he arrived; first came a pregnant Carol, then Abby, then Chuny, Sam, and throw in a prostitute also. They decided to pair her up with Luka as soon as they knew Noah Wyle. Sure he came in for a few extra episodes, but he wasnt a regular at that time. So poor Luka ended up with the drunk woman whos always messing up. In my mind they broke up after a few years down the road, causing her to have a nervous breakdown and left in psych hospital, and him with full custody

What a scene showing grace and forgiveness. These two have been through hell and back and it's true they always find each other. Luka's saying now, it's the time to hang on to each other and let's go on another adventure!

I love Luka. He is always the romantic. This speech about the row boat made me 😍.

I personally never got the people promoting Doug/ Carol as ER "iconic couple" & "perfect match/ soulmates" & saying Luka/ Abby are no good for each other. Doug/ Carol were quite primitive characters, & also her giving birth to the twins all alone, him not finding time to come and check on them kinda ruined their story for me. Here I can see that the writers treated the couple "gently" & tried to finish Luka & Abby' s journey in a nice way, taking into consideration the actors' leaving the show at different moments etc. I absolutely loved these two, together and separately, & enjoyed their evolution during seasons. Abby is smart, funny, brave, ambitious, never putting any relationship on the 1st place. She really bloomed on s10 & 11, chasing her goals. Luka is adorable, a fallen angel, while with his own flaws, & Goran steals every scene he is in. These two were carrying the show for the last 4 seasons. The writers knew what they were doing, throwing to us the bone of their possible reconciliation on every season and not going into that until s12. They were so cute being young and somehow reckless in the beginning, not really aware of how rare what they had together was. I see so much love and longing between them in their few scenes in s14 - her giving to him the newspaper for the 1st anniversary is one of my favorite scenes. Good acting and incredible chemistry all along.

Tbh I’ll never get over what Carol and Luka had but I have to say Abby and Luka are adorable. I’m a little disappointed Carol went back to Doug because 1 I wanted my favorite female character (other than Elizabeth) to be with my favorite male character and 2. I kinda despise Doug. The scene where Carol passes out while she is in labor and Luka carries her to the hospital- my heart was just exploding. BUT Luka still found a woman that had good chemistry with him.

@@dippyfresh8155 there was no carol and Luka, they were friends. She wasn’t interested in him the way he was in her and he had just came on the show. Carol was biding time before realizing she still loved Doug. Ironically Luka kissing her is what made carol figure out what she wanted and it wasn’t Luka it was Doug. Carol told Luka you’ll find the one you’re meant to be with the one who will love you like your wife loved you.. it was always Abby.

You can't compare character development for Doug/ Carol vs Abby/ Luka. For one thing, Abby and Luka were on the series together for several more years than Doug/ Carol were. For another, in the early years of the show, the episodes were much more about what was happening in the hospital than what was happening the character's lives. The show did not start to focus more on true character development until the 6th or 7th season. This is why Doug and Carol were "primitive" characters. Of course, by season 10, the show had morphed into a nighttime soap.

The way he kissed her... That's so beautiful and so full of love ❤️

It’s not their final scene. Their final scene together was one of the most beautiful scenes in the world. Abby walking to the car as she’s leaving county and Luka was waiting for her outside with Joe in the car them driving away into the night.. a truly luby family going to Boston to have new start. Abby and Luka kissing and looking back at their friends was so bittersweet but I was so happy they got through yet another trial thrown at them. Luka was taking his family away into the night happy to start their new life.

One of my favorite scenes of the entire series. ❤️

Just be happy that they got their happily ever after if not they would’ve end up alone and miserable without each other. Abby made a mistake and Luka made his mistakes in the past, everybody makes mistakes, and people do change. No marriage is perfect as long as they speak up and work it out they’re gonna be okay. It’s like Luka said for better or for worse as long as they keep rowing they’re gonna be okay. Forgiveness is an adtribute of the strong and I’m glad Luka forgave her. They come so far and after everything they been through they belong together it’s a simple as that 😍

Abby told Luka she thought that part of needing someone to teach her to have hope again was mutual. Abby went through a lot of trauma as a kid, raised her brother and grew up fast so she desperately needed that love and stability she didn’t have growing up. Luka could give her that. Unconditional love stability and to boot their son. Luka brought Abby back to life just as much as she did him.

I think they left because they wanted a fresh start..I loved Luka and Abby :)

Yep. All those trashy women he went on one night stands after their first break up was him hurting over Abby. He admitted to her how much he missed her. Even during the Africa thing he was wondering how Abby was unlike carter. Lukas heart belonged to Abby and when they reunited the second time he was never happier.

Disagree. Carter dumped her with a letter and Luka said 'you aren't that special or that pretty'. They helped her at times and vice versa. Carter didn't deserve her, he was too judgmental. Luke and Abby deserved each other and got each other. Best ending.

Yasi I like Luka but can’t stand Abby, she was always negative, had a closed mind about everything but yet gave speeches that the others should have an open mind, she couldn’t accept or respect people who believed in God, I know it’s a t.v. show but that’s how most t.v. Or movies write their characters or a message to make Christians look like fools or ignorant instead of respecting what people believe in. But Abby was just annoying at times and a downer
