Equipment Changes on the 220

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I've made a few changes/upgrades to my 220 gallon display tank while I wait for it to cycle and my new fish to arrive. In this video I go over the things that I have changed and talk a bit about the thought process that went into it.

    Like your changes. But I would definitely put in a "shut off float" IN the tank so you don't refill your room as well as your tank when you walk away and forget the incoming water line is ON. :-)

    +emerson galicia of course. For one, I just can’t bring myself to drill this 220. If it went wrong I would be really upset. Also I’m not a huge fan of sumps in my living space due to the noise, though I’m sure that could be mitigated to some extent.

    Steve Poland Cichlids don't have to drill your tank, use an overflow box I use one on my sump oh, and it's not really loud at all. Think of a sump as a magic canister filter with no lid that doesn't ever leak. I've had nothing but problems with my FX4

    +dablu3sid3 I don’t think two FX6 (or and FX5 and FX6) is quite enough for a 220. I wanted something beefy to push through both heaters and an Fx4 was perfect.

    You said you want the least amount of items in the tank thus the external heater set up , but then you add all those pipes in the tank. Has to be a better way to stream line your set up.

    How can your tank be fully cycled when there are no fish in it? Won’t the biomass have to again adapt to whatever stocking level you decide on and isn’t that in effect a cycle? I don’t understand that comment...

  • @StevePolandAquatics

    @StevePolandAquatics

    6 жыл бұрын

    +Robert Dillon it’s a fishless cycle. I’m adding ammonia at a much higher rate than the fish will produce to keep the bacteria alive. Some will die off if the bioload with fish is lower but that’s no big deal.
