    Many thanks for an excellent video. Dealer quoted me $500 to replace the radio. (USB not recognized) I was able to order the receptacle for $15 and replace it myself! (note: 2011 Yukon center console USB receptacle is nearly identical. Only had one input cable for USB, part number 20944418).

    Hello, this was very helpful. However I have questions. First off, I recently bought a 2015 GMC TERRAIN SLE-1. In wanting to charge my phone, ( I have a 22 ultra and have a charger that should fit) but when I insert the USB into this, it feels loose and doesn't work. I don't know if it's suppose to be that loose. But anyways. It wasn't working. It is a good charger I mean it works inside the house, but not in the car. Okay, my questions: How do I know if it's just that usb port that needs to be repaired? What if it's a wire problem? How do I fix that? Is there any other tips you have that you could share? Or a video? Please.. I saw a comment that said something about a fuse box? Is that something that needs to be looked at? If so, what am I looking for? Again, thank you for this video, I hope you can answer my questions! 🤞🤝

    Hello! Glad to hear the video was helpful. I can definitely answer some of these questions for you. 1. The USB charger should not be very loose. Sounds like the USB is not connecting properly or has become worn? 2. It really is just 2 things that can fail...the USB plug, or the wiring.The wiring can fail, but it is rarer, as it is a thicker, black wire that goes right to the stereo. Something would need to cut it. Since the USB is loose, it is more likely to be the issue. 3. If it is a wire problem, the wire from the USB to the stereo itself needs to be replaced. The wire replacement is tricky though, as the whole console area needs to be opened up. 4. I can look at making a video on it, but the main thing is to take out the USB as seen in the video and inspect it for damage. That is where I would start. I'll see if I can put something together, but it may be a few weeks out as I don't have access to the vehicle right now. 5. I will have to double check which fuse is it. I believe it is fuse 13 in the fuse box inside of the car. The fuse box is located in the passenger side of the car, at the bottom, where your left foot would be. You can see a little panel you can open down there. I can try and include it in the video. I'll verify that fuse at that time too. Hope this helps a bit.

    Does this go out because of a bad fuse.. first... or is it always changing the entire assembly to repair? Had car since 2010 and it only worked for 5 minutes.

  • @NexusAuto

    @NexusAuto

    Depends on the situation. There is really very few scenarios where there is a bad fuse...something has to cause the fuse to pop, most times. Did you try replacing the fuse? Did it blow again?

    Dang I'm trying to figure out how to get the cover off to replace my 12v cigarette retainer because the old one broke so now my socket is free to wiggle its a pain if I have to take my cellphone charger out because there's nothing to keep my socket from moving around in my 2015 gmc terrain didn't find any videos on KZread. Gonna be a waste of money taking it to a shop to have them take the front cover off just to put in a 12v retrainer for the socket to sit in.

    I haven't done it on the equinox and terrains, but I'm fairly certain the front seats have to come out, which gets access to some bolts on the side. There's also some hidden at the top. But unfortunately, I'm not sure how much has to be disassembled to gain full access

    Amazon/audio places sell usb to 3.5mm jack adapters. I've never tried one personally, so I'm not sure if there is a loss in audio quality, but they do sell them out there.

    I can get the port out no problem but can’t get the wires off at all - grey or black. They look a little different than in your video too. I have a 2012 Equinox. I’m getting upset because my usb doesn’t work anymore in the car and I don’t know what to do or who to bring it to

  • @NexusAuto

    @NexusAuto

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hmmm, not sure why that is happening. Only advice I can give is to inspect those plugs as best as possible (I know they are in an awkward position) and see where the release buttons are. Use something for leverage like a flat head screw driver or a needle nose pliers to try and help push those buttons in. Be careful, as it is easy to slip and stab yourself. Once you get those plugs out, you can get a replacement. I hope this helps a little bit.
