I just recently discovered Equilibrium. And coming from Bavaria have to say this song is one of the most hilarious songs, but with authentic style of Bavarian pubs ("Boazn"): "Wirtshaus Gaudi". Thank me later.

Blut im Auge was my introduction to Equilibrium, and what a great first song to introduce me to them! And while Sagas is indeed a great album, I think Erdentempel is my absolute favorite, and I love that the band included instrumental versions of their tracks, since I’m not always in the mood for the vocals. Although Waldschrein is an amazing track, sometimes I wonder if I actually prefer “Uns’rer Flöten Klang” instead. In any case, Equilibrium’s (earlier) music never fails to lift my spirits.🤘

Also, there are some actual acoustic versions of some of their songs, and they prove you don’t necessarily need distortion in order to write and perform a metal song. I particularly like their acoustic versions of Blut im Auge and Der Ewige Sieg. I’m quite sure HalfLifeSistah would enjoy them immensely!

haha well done XD i think youll enjoy "rise again" from equilibrium too. and if you wanna hear more of that kind of stuff, id recommend either Feuerschwanz "Untod im Drachenboot" or In Extremo "Kompass zur Sonne"

I have missed so many videos these past few months (actually, I think I have been absent from this channel for all of 2021) because COVID-life has gotten in the way. I have been meaning to come back and comment again and I have to say, this video pulled me back into the fold (I have it paused as I type this, so I'm technically still going through the video) because I could swear I know this song title but oddly enough not the band. 🤷‍♀️ Don't know how that happened on my end but let's say it was a good thing, because I am back watching your videos Sistah (I have missed you and Wolf so much) and excited to figure out if I know this song/band or not. I LOVE how excited Wolf is explaining everything and I'm excited to listen to one of his Top Ten. One of the reasons I adore symphonic metal is for that marriage of symphony (classical) with metal, and it's actually why I like a few other bands that aren't symphonic metal. I love genre crossing and it's how I write my own stories, by combining genres and ideas that normally aren't put together. So, he's got my hyped for this video! Eluveitie combines folk and Celtic into their metal, which I love (as a Celt who also plays a lot of folk music) and Amaranthe combines pop elements into their metal. Genre crossing isn't new to metal but this band sounds like they combine way more than just one or two, so I'm excited to hear it. And one of the reasons why symphonic elements go so well with metal, is because metal evolved from symphonic music in the first place. Even listening to metal that isn't symphonic, you can actually hear the classical roots. I often hear Bach and Beethoven in metal and every now and again I get that irksome Pachelbel (I don't like his canon and feel like the only classical musician who doesn't like it 😆). I've also been able to pick out some Mozart but I'm less versed in his works than I should be. All this to say, yes, symphonic music and metal music marry quite well together because the symphonic music is the birthplace of metal and still influences deeply. Now adding in the new age and folk and other musical genres, that's another story. I have no idea if I will comment again after having watched the video or not, because my comments are always lengthy, so I should probably spare you having to read two in a row from me. I'm thrilled y'all are holding up during COVID and still doing videos. You both look well and I hope you are along with the rest of your family. Much love and I will try not to go AWOL again (summer semester just started so readjusting to a new schedule) because I miss these videos and being able to comment and discuss them. ❤️

Haven't watched you guys for a few months! So busy. It's like coming back home....forgot how nicely you introduce and research things Wolf. 👍Have no idea who Equilibrium are.....oh just watched the intro....now I do. My first computer was a Spectrum ZX......so those hours loading tape games and listening classic 80s dodgy digital intros might help here... I'd argue Nightwish, like most great heavy bands are progressive. There I said it. ☺️ First bit of song....they do indeed sound like Nightwish.....yeah positive energy! Oh the singer is far back in the mix...I heard the other day people who cannot stand roaring singing call it cookie monster singing....what dooshes...👨‍🎤....mmm....just this song don't hear any computery vibes...nice positive as you say symphonic metal parts but not entirely convinced I need hear more...

Okay, quick second comment, Wolf said half the bands he listens to aren't in English (huzzah! I too listen to music not in English) and I wanted to recommend literally anything by Teräsbetoni. They are still on hiatus currently but they are based out of their native Finland and sing entirely in Finnish. The singer/bassist is Jarkko Ahola who is the "King of High Notes" for supergroup The Northern Kings. I wish I could remember the song I would recommend, off the top of my head, I know the first word is Missa but then I lose the rest of it. Lots of vowels and umlauts. I don't think you have reacted to that group before, or I could have just missed that video if you have. But in the off-chance I'm correct, you may want to give them a try. Finnish is a fascinating and beautiful language, it's very poetic when it's spoken and I think the language lends itself very well to music and being sung. I wish more of the Finnish bands would sing in their native tongue or at least include one or two songs on an album that are in Finnish. So yeah, I recommend giving them a try because they're good in my opinion but really it's the opportunity to hear Finnish being sung that really sells the band and the experience. EDIT: Y'all are going to die laughing at me (I sure am). So it turns out I DO know this song, but unbeknownst to me, I had added the instrumental version to my Spotify playlist and that's what I've been binge listening to for a month. I legit had no clue it was an instrumental and that there was a version with lyrics. 🤣

I'm actually laughing because you probably realized by now we just reacted to Jarkko quite a bit recently! Two solo and we did a versus of his band here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mXxnwaimXZXMadI.html . They were a lot of fun! Anyway welcome back 🤗 I have a lot of channels I follow that I also fall behind on. There just isn't enough hours in the day to see everything but I won't stop trying 🤣✊🤘

18:45 René mentioned in an Interview long ago that they could not afford a complete orchestra and most likely they would not have enough space on the stage... well, meanwhile their stages may have become big enough for that. ;) Honestly, you have to translate their lyrics. "Unbesiegt", "Waldschrein", "Widars Hallen" and many others have really good lyrics!

I’ve been watching your reactions to Nightwish Ad Astra. Perspective, I watched Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” when it first aired. I‘ve not heard the term flat earthers before this … in the last couple of centuries anyway. Now, Wolfkain, I saw the epitome of that term when I Googled to find the composer of the music in the piece you played your wife. Some bozo actually asked, “What was the significance of the pale blue dot”. I swear that Darwin needs to clean this pale blue dot really BAD!!!🔥

Ok I get the idea that contrasts draw you in Wolf....but that doesn't always work if song after song the style of a band makes for the same wallpaper design/wall of sound overall..... Agreed that huge drum orchestra choral part is ace though....yeah I prefer the instrumental! Overall though it's quite filmic....

I do like Rise Again, but othwerwise everything but the demo is dissappointing. Equilibrium's music on the demo is my Equilibrium. Fun fact: I listened to Turis Fratyr and was dissappointed, stopped following them. The first time I realized there were line up changes was when the video for Wirtshausgaudi came up in my stream. The new singer became the face of a serious downfall for me (Turis Fratyr was just not great). It took Rise Again coming up in my stream for me to realize that he was not the source of a serious change, he was just a new singer and Wirtshausgaudi was just kinda an abberation. That's young people and changing what they love for you :-D
