Epoxy resin phone screen repair

Teardown Lab - Epoxy resin phone screen repair
I smashed my beloved smartphone, is there any way I can get a little more use out of it without cutting myself?!
Yeah, in a pinch it works and keeps all the fragments together until you can get it repaired! Beware though, if the resin gets into the electronics of the phone itself you may have made things a lot worse!

    Ok. I just used the Devcon 5 min epoxy and a heat gun. I applied a very thin layer then turned my heat gun on low until the epoxy got very thin and filled in the crack. I turned the phone at different angles to flow the warmed epoxy into the worst problem areas. Let it get tacky then cleaned off the tiny bit of excess. It worked perfectly! Thank you sir!

    You were on the right track but had you turned the phone at an angle and then swiped the resin at an angle, it would have filled in the cracks and completely! The key is to take notice as to which direction the glass is raised so that you apply the resin into the cracks properly, but other than that you were on the right track!

    I love the informal way of doing the video. Dicking around with the resin at the start, just doing int by feel seeing what works. And I must say I'm very impressed! The video together with the comments here are a gold mine. Good instructions! Dropped my phone today, cracked the back, so will definitely be trying this later today :D

    I think there are some phone screen protector kits that use UV so it may be possible. Also UV cured 3d printer resin might be worth a try

    You must inject the resin with pressure on the screen if not it will stay on the surface

  • @lycanlycans7548
    @lycanlycans75484 жыл бұрын

    I think that would'n work because think about the heat that could demage the LCD itself ! Why you don't use loca or a uv glue with low viscosity to create a capillary effect! so the uv glue has to be very thin so that it can crawl into the break! and then you also need a uv lamp!

  • @peepla7

    Good job. My resin is self leveling...so would have poured it right to the center tilted it so it spreads out and then just left it maybe use a heat gun to release any bubbles and then not touch it not you know go back and forth with a spatula or anything like that to see if it you know settled in all the cracks and such but that's just my method when it comes to resin. I found this video when I had the thought that maybe resin can fix my camera in the back of my phone when it hit the concrete after being dropped from a car so I figured maybe somebody else had the same idea and boom found this video. Also subbed cuz you're funny.

    The screen is not fighting the epoxy the screen is glass so epoxy will act like water on it what you needed to do was take some 1200 grit sandpaper and lightly deglaze your screen and then clean the dust off and then put the epoxy on

    I would have mad e a new batch of resin....any unmixed resin... Or not at the proper ratio can result in sticky or not getting hard or all kinds of resin don't want to behave type issues. Need to make a small 10 mm batch and whatever doesn't cover the screen can go into overflow mode like a keychain holder or whatever.

    That looks like a waste of money to me. I watched one were the guy uses elmers glue. Yeah the white elmers glue. He covers the entire screen and rubs it in well with his finger especially into the deep cracks. Needless to say the next part blew my mind. He leaves the glue on there not wiping any off. He took duc tape and covered the entire with it. Then he takes a hammer and starts hitting the phone with some force behind it. At this point you probably think I'm mentally ill but I promise you I'm not. He then takes the phone and puts it away for 24 hours. The next day he removes the tape and you won't believe me but it looked like a new glass screen with no sign of any damaged to it. I not making this up. It looked brand new.
