Yes. There are always more Christmases down the road, but when one is 70 years old, it makes one wonder how many Christmases there really are. Not to be a downer, but it changes one’s perspective.

As a 73 yr old also, I feel your sentiment. However, enjoy your hobby and passion daily, stitch and quilt to your hearts content and take life as it comes. It’s hard but try and not let the fear of the future spoil the joy of the moment. That’s what we all have been given, 1 day at a time. I just feel so fortunate I have a hobby I love and am not sitting alone , bored and complaining about nothing to do. There is plenty to do. 😂

I just turned 76 and have been quilting for about 12 years now. I have so many quilt projects I want to do and hope I can finish them. Need to stop myself from buying more fabric though except of course when I need backing. My goal is to not have a single one unfinished. I don’t about anybody else, but I’m guilty of buying layer cakes, jelly rolls and 5 inch squares and I still have them in my stash without a plan. 🙆‍♀️

I think it's really interesting how Billy comes up with questions/topics that for those who have been involved in quilting for a while might not think to discuss. Like two-color quilts, for example We kind of just take those for granted and they don't get a lot of fanfare. I like how he approaches topics from a different, and equally interesting perspective.

Billy I have a suggestion for you - I have been quilting for about 5 years and as your Mom and Sister were talking about their previous fabric collections, I was trying to think back and remember them. Balboa is the first fabric line I recognized form Sherri & Chelsea. I would love to see a “look back” over previous collections. Some of them sounded so fun and interesting.

I think what’s trending is doing quilts out of our favorite designers whole line. Back in the day folks had to gather fabric. These days designers do all that work for us. Some of us might mix and match but, a ton of quilts are made from a “line” Fun topic 🎉

My grandmother had a couple of chairs that had needlepoint covers on the seats (2 chairs). I took them off the chairs before they were given away. I finally made pillows out of them. i bordered them with a burgundy plaid homespun and sewed ruffles out of the same fabric around the outside of each. They turned out great and rest on our sofa in our living room which is also burgundy.

Your comments on Christmas and blankets really hit me this week. My grandmother was dying of cancer now going on 20 years ago, I was 18 and we knew it was her last Christmas with us. I had remembered the photo wizard cape from the movie Stepmom with Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts, and I had decided to make my first ever blanket for her with photos from her life. I used my mother's sewing machine, and on Christmas Eve the motor died on it with about 3 more photos to sew on; with my mother keeping watch and my uncle's help (he manually turned the wheel for me) we got it done just in time. It's a blanket I still hold on to and a Christmas I fondly hold in my heart.

Oh my goodness!!!! I would love if you ladies ever did a project where you cut the dish towels to use inside blocks! That is brilliant! I have dish towels that my grandma hand embroidered for my "hope chest". The designs are the traditional days of the week designs with puppies. I have NEVER used them. They are treasured, but put up. My husband and I have been married for 17 years, and my grandma has been gone for 9 years now.

Hi, all! This year I purchased a book by Susan Ache, Summer Memories. My favorite quilt in it, Veranda, is a two-color quilt. In the book she mentions that she would love to (I'm paraphrasing, Susan!) make it in several different colors and stack them for a display. I thought that seemed like such a great idea! As a hand-piecer/quilter, I am so slow with projects - but perhaps I'll manage to get more than one finished someday! Thanks for an interesting show.
