It is really fun. Can be a bit of a headache with the crowds etc, but still such a good atmosphere.

Hi Tash, I often knit double stranded and I’m always having to ladder down and pick up. Crochet hook seems to be my best friend 🤭🤣 my sweet spot is between 3.5mm needles and 5mm needles. I don’t do a lot of socks and I don’t really like bulky looking knits myself, that’s good as I know my hands wouldn’t cope with the extremes. Every time I see a Soldotna it makes me drool. Love the dress you were wearing under it too 🥰 I’ve made quite a few ranunculus and I’d like to do one in the wider neckline in a heavier weight yarn also

Hi Karen. I wouldnt be without my crochet hook either. It is an essential in my notions pouch.You would love the Soldotna. It is a really fun knit and it knits up so quickly. Choosing colours is the challenge. I could spend hours mixing and matching. :)

I love the Soldotna from the Vault. The Turquoise one is lovely but I dont' like the colours for the second one (just personal taste). The Ebb dress is wonderful and look fabulous in the colours you have chosen. So many ideas so little time. From a Stormy Cape Town with wind and rain ⛈ and a promise of a thunder storm looks like an early autumn 😊

Hi Rosemary. I am with you on the colours of the two Soldotnas. I wear the turquoise one a lot and almost never reach for the yellow and maroon one. We just had a massive thunder storm here too. Hope you are staying warm and dry. Thank you for the encouragement on the Ebb Dress. I was a little unsure if it was a bit out there.

Hi Tash, I just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying your content. Thank you. I am currently suffering with very bad hand pain so I haven’t knitted for a week. I’m just torturing myself by watching other knitters on you tube 😂 Just wondered if you had any tips? I’m hoping to pick up my needles soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hi there. Thanks so much for your lovely comment. Some of the things i try to do are to mix up my needle sizes - not working on the same needles and one project for a long period of time. I try to schedule rest breaks and i generally dont work on socks for too long as that causes a lot of tension. Same with magic loop. Some stitches are harder on my hands than others, like twisted rib. And knitting with cotton or linen. Paying attention as you knit is important too - if they start to feel a bit sore, time to give your hands a rest. That is also where other crafts can be good as well. I havent crocheted in a while but that uses different muscles so it might be good to have a little crochet project to switch to. No magic bullet but hopefully a few tips in there. Hope you hands feel better soon. If you can tolerate ibuprofen or voltaren for a bit of relief while they get better, that helped me with the pain. But i didnt try to knit through it. I do look forward to seeing your podcasts and again to reiterate. I take notes! I am halfway through the yoke on the Misurina using NUA sport by Carol Feller so soft. I would really like to cast on the Soldotna, unfortunately I feel like I am more of a project knitter. The need to finish one before starting another. See you next week

Thank you so much Janice. That is such a lovely compliment. Working on one sweater at a time can be great as you get it finished a lot more quickly than if you are splitting your time amongst other projects. It is also a great incentive to get it done so you get the fun of the new cast on. ;) I am so glad you are enjoying the podcast. Thanks for taking the time to comment. @@mostlyknitting I’m using Broken Tiles which is a rusty colour and Kitten Fluff which is a Smokey grey. The rust I had as stash so was useful. I have a good amount of Rowan felted tweed I’m hoping that I could use for the Soldotna! Watch this space.

@@mostlyknitting hi Tash, on holiday in Spain, with my coopknits yarn in Ruby a good standby vanilla pattern. Although playing chicken with the second sock….wish me luck. I think a # Instagram would be a great idea for your podcast community

I am always in awe of your colourwork knits, I love to see them on others but when they are very busy I wonder if they would suit me, being busty, a circular busy yoke is not my best fit, I do better with V necks and more open necklines. I have not yet tried colourwork because I am not sure it would look good on me, and because I am intimidated by it, I should probably seek out some beginner friendly one to try out... That orange mohair is so pretty! I have never made socks yet, but I do feel the same with very small needles and tight gauge, and also with very big needles, which I hardly use because I prefer fingering weight in general.

You could always try a colorwork hat if you just wanted to see if you like the technique. Some patterned yokes have only a little colorwork and then raglan shaping at the bottom. You might find that suits you a little better. It may be worth exploring on ravelry and see what some sweaters look like on people who have made them who have a bigger bust? I find that helpful for me - looking at other people's project pages. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. x
