Episode 3 - First service on my Honda ADV 350 & happy ending massages in Pattaya

Ғылым және технология

#thailand #pattaya #expat
Today, I went to get the first (1,000 km - 600 mile) service done on my ADV 350. As you'll see, the service you get over here is far better than I expected and it was cheap.
I'm also going to start talking about the other side of things that no one dares to ask questions about. I'm sure that every bloke out there wants to know the ins and outs about happy ending massages, bar girls and that side of things so I'll cover a new subject in every video (with videos that suit the subject). Hold on to your hats, it's going to become a bumpy ride 🤣🤣
I might be stupid but moving here is the best decision I have ever made. Thailand has so many beautiful places to visit and they're all going to be accessible for me and I'm touring from north to south as soon as the bike is ready for touring.
Most of you already know that I gave my old UK life up to live here and I've come here with a limited budget. Thanks to the people who have already kindly donated, I'm able to get things ready for the adventure of a lifetime and I'd like to take you all on the journey.
If you can spare anything to help, It will greatly be appreciated, every penny counts.

Or use the superchat thing :) I thank every one of you who have already pledged money, it's helped me fulfil my dream and got me out of pain!

    I thought about visiting Colombia a few years ago because it sounds dangerous and I like a bit of danger 😁 Most of the roads here are 18" thick reinforced concrete so it would take a couple of hefty blows with a lump hammer to get through it, it's easier to run a cable a mile down the road, across the bridge and back up the other side than dig the road up 🤣🤣 I'm going to do some videos on cheap living soon mate, I'm spending around £1.75 a day on food and I always eat healthy.

    Whilst Tony still has his rose tinted glasses on, he's bang on about many things about Thailand. No.1 is efficiency. They turn up, do some work (with or without protective equipment) and don't leave till it's done, true 24/7 working. Pothole repairs at 2am... normal. I've seen entire Thai roads built (properly, no corners cut) in less time that it takes to fill a pothole in the UK. Even 20 years after travelling in Thailand for six months whenever I see empty roadworks in England I think it's nuts while everybody else still goes 'yeah, that's normal'... It bloomin' isn't.

  • @Vortecks

    @Vortecks

    4 ай бұрын

    I don't have rose tinted glasses on mate, I'm genuinely not able to find anything bad about Thailand but I am constantly comparing things to the UK. As you know, it's far more organised and they're old school, they get the job done as quickly as possible. I saw a bloke putting new telegraph cables up the other day, the telegraph pole was so obscured with cables that he couldn't put the ladder against it, the bloke at the bottom was holding the ladder whilst the other one went up it 'freestanding'. Get the job done no matter what the cost is.

  • @thingi

    @thingi

    4 ай бұрын

    @@Vortecks Tony, if you genuinely cannot find any fault with Thailand (yet) you still have those rose tints still on. Every traveller and ex-pat wears them no matter where you go 'in paradise' for a few weeks or months. I'm enjoying the vids because they bring back all the feelings of 'being a newbie' in that amazing country but you're looking at a third world country though a 1st world traveller's eyes with a 1st world sized wallet at the moment. If you had to live on what a Thai earns your view would be a hell of a lot different. Top tip.... Get to know some workers from Lao and Cambodia working in Thailand to send money back to their families. Your views will changer rather quickly and that rose tint will disappear faster than a cat on crack.

  • @Vortecks

    @Vortecks

    @@thingiHopefully, this comment will be buried somewhere that people don't view very often but I'll let you into a little secret......I've been here more than people know mate, that's all I can say. I know people from Cambodia and Laos and especially from Isan. The problems they have with border-hopping ever month in a none air-conditioned bus is downright cruel but the money they send home brings them happiness because they can look after their family. I have spoken to a lot of people and they are honestly happy with doing it. I was always taught to never pity people who have never known any different but I do pity the ones who have been brought down from (relative) wealth. Believe me, I know a lot more than the average traveller, I started from the very bottom of things and worked my way up, learning "WHY" along the way has changed my whole perspective on things but I'm trying to appeal to the western world at the moment and hiding the real Thailand. I certainly haven't got a 1st world traveller's wallet mate, I eat street food and I only publish the pretty picture at the moment. Very soon (when I start touring) people are going to see the other side of Thailand and living on nothing, I'm currently spending money on unnecessary things to bring the beauty of Thailand to the masses. Even though there is poverty, it's all they know so I don't see that as a bad part but an opportunity to bring happiness. Hopefully, I've convinced you that I don't have rose-tinted glasses on, I know all the bad parts and (because I spent many months finding out why) I don't see them as a negative.

    @@Vortecks Tony, fair play mate. I take it back. My personal take on other countries vs the UK evolved due to work in over 40 countries as well as my own travel exploits so my views are maybe a bit to jaded and/or cynical. Thailand is still near the top of the list I was just trying to point out that it's not as 'perfect' as what was coming across. Your latest trip to Bangkok vid felt way more like the Thailand I know too. What we see in the news and media about other places is mainly absolute lies. There's way more truth in you vids than any news channel. What's really interesting about the Cambodia and Laos boarder run 'slaves' is indeed they were generally happier than than majority of the UK despite their absolute poverty - that really did blow my mind at the time. Things are changing though, the Smartphone has allowed the really poor of the world to see how the rich side lives and that is creating depression, jealousy and increasingly drug addiction (khat is a good example)... Before the poor used to aspire to just surviving and sending money home, increasingly now they want 'what we have' (which is a joke and over-rated). It's like our rich Western-ness is infecting the happiness of people in places like Thailand via the internet.

    Good to see you enjoying life once again Tony. The food is awesome in Thailand, just make sure its freshly cooked, and seriously don't eat reheated chicken legs and drumsticks they sell on the BBQs. Getting campylobacter poisoning is no fun.

    Like anywhere you eat, you never know how many times it's been reheated mate. One thing about Thai people is the reputation that they all have, they would lose face if they gave someone food poisoning and they can't afford for that to happen.

I have needed to adjust the bars with riser blocks (moving them 15mm back) because I'm short and the ride is a bit harsh but I'm only 72kg and I'll soon change that when I load it up for touring. The power, the overall comfort, storage space and the stability along with a bullet-proof engine and a feeling of being a motorbike make it a superb machine.

    I haven't seen or heard a plane since I got here so I couldn't tell you. Interesting, I can understand the lack of contrails but chemtrails are a conspiracy theory, aren't they?

    @@Vortecks - That's what "they" would have us believe. Con trails only stretch out a couple of hundred yards behind the plane, before dispersing. Chem trails stretch from horizon to horizon and are systematically laid down in parallel lines and quite often, even grid fashion. They hang about, gradually spreading until they merge and create what looks thin, high level cloud cover. So many have their noses buried in their phones, they dont even look up, let alone notice. There is a very interesting video called "What on Earth Are They Spraying" For some strange reason, if you try to look into this phenomena, you dont come across such videos or much more than denial and the usual term, "conspiracy theory". As someone once said, "If they dont want us to know, then we most certainly should know".

    Yes mate, they dissect the filter and see if there's any metal particles in it. I don't know if that's common practice at Honda but that's what I saw.
