@2:55, I am doing research, trying to identify the name of the sound that some people often make at the beginning of a sentence where it sounds like "tsk", by sucking the back of the teeth with the tongue. I've seen it become much more prevalent in recent years, and I want to do a research paper on why... some people do it much more than others. Has it become more prevalent, or do I just notice it more now?

I have recently learned that it is possible to have both elevated ferritin levels and normal liver test results, so iron overload is unlikely. That is my situation. My question to the doctor was, so why is my ferritin so high (577)? Inflammation was the possible cause. But my CRP is normal (0.5%). CRP is not an accurate measure of inflammation everywhere in the body. It could be from acute or chronic infections. So how do I lower ferritin and inflammation? At this point the doctor was becoming impatient. Your liver tests came back normal, so forget about it! This scenario continued for the next 3 years until he got so fed up that he referred me to a haematologist/oncologist. The haematologist looked over my history, felt my neck and abdomen, and said that I don’t have iron overload. Yeah, I know that but why the high ferritin? Again, inflammation was the answer, but this time it was propose that it could be from my kidney stone history. Irritation from the gravelly particles in my kidney could be source of the irritation that is causing the inflammatory reaction. Okay, so much for that. I am 70 years old already and the ferritin situation is not interfering with my daily life, so yeah, forget about it!

Wow. That’s quite the ordeal! My high ferritin has resolved since my sleep has improved (luckily). Like you mentioned, bio markers are just a symptom. The nuance and expertise comes from putting that piece of information together with all the other information that’s pertinent. Lastly, give me this information, is it worth making an intervention. As there is no free lunch, and there are always trade offs. Like you said, if you feel good and the most important bio markers look good longitudinally, live your life!!! Thanks for the comment 🙏🏻💪🏻

@@flochfitness4271Yes, the “ordeal” was worth it because I finally got an answer to “Where is the inflammation coming from?” I had wanted to know what can I do to reduce the inflammation but since it is caused by a chronic condition, it doesn’t look like there is much I can do about it, so meh! I will just keep watching ferritin and doing the standard liver tests for iron.

I’m faced with the same situation, 3xupper ferritin level, but normal liver function etc. Doc says it’s a reaction to underlying inflammation (acute phase reactant) most likely due to hyperlipidemia, and my consumption of red meat and dairy (was following a keto diet for some years now). I’m now cutting down on red meat and dairy consumption, etc also taking the statin medication that the doc prescribed. Hopefully that will resolve the high ferritin given some time. Somewhat stressed about it, as you don’t want to mess with iron overload.

@@ianviljoen9036 The haematologist/oncologist assured me that I don’t have iron overload. My GP is doing everything right. Chronic inflammation is the cause of high ferritin. Course of action? Just keep an eye on ferritin and liver enzymes. Since I am not suffering any effects, I am going to stop worrying about it.

My ferritin came in at 22! But I have been donating whole blood for the past decade. Have to give it a break for couple of years. What are your thoughts? Doctor advised me to take iron supplement.

Iron supplementation is rarely needed and usually a sign of systemic inflammation. There are an enormous amount of studies that show the deleterious effects of excess iron in the body. Seek out a practitioner who is knowledgeable in functional medicine and take what a GP says with a heavy grain of salt

Donating Blood should be the ####### ONE thing to do - all else matters a shit tonne less... BUT I"m just a guy who did a lot of research - U do ur own. Why I researched IO 18 months ago my ferritin levels were 625 After 8 blood donations (every 60 days) (no other real changes in diet) I am now at 130 (average 60 units per donation ) One more donation I should be below 100 Optimal levels between 20 to 90 - Accoring to "MY" Research on TRUSTED YT channels & Blogs
