Episode 134: One Last Offroad Ride in Quartzsite//Winter 2022

In this episode we take Mark and Jen's side by side out for one last ride before moving on. We follow Devil's Canyon out to the old Cinnabar Mine, which was at one time an active mercury mine. We take a bit of time to walk around and explore the remains of the mine's buildings and exposed shafts.
Later, we get hit by a massive wind storm which blew dust everywhere. We venture out and brave the weather twice that day - once to run errands and one for a really fun group dinner at Silly Al's Pizza. Join us for the fun!

There are so many mines around Quartzsite, but I think this one was the most interesting so far.

There are a lot of trails to ride out there, the old mine looked neat. I would like to see the deep pits covered but they must have a reason not to. Hope the work on your truck turned out well. Stay safe and healthy.

So far Grace is doing well. Fingers crossed it stays that way. These mine shafts had pelican cases hanging in them, so we guessed they're being monitored for some reason.

@@TipsyMarlinTravels Bats use the mine shafts often, but they have bat safe covers that covers the top and leaves 6-8 inch open on the sides for the bats. I would hate a kid fall in or something. Glad you guys are doing well and thank you for the videos. Just had a little surgery and need some good entertainment.

We visited Dome Bason Mine while there. We totally disliked the winds in AZ. In the east rain keeps us inside and the west winds keep us inside. Silly Al's pizza was good

This was by far the windiest year yet in Arizona, and it does make you want to hunker down indoors.

Kate, try some painters tape around the window and door frames. See how that works to keep our the dust. We use it when I sand drywall. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"

Thanks for the tip! After a blow like that we end up with sand in everything. Next desert wind storm we're in I'll try it.

That looked really bumpy! Cool mine! How long did it take to get there? Where are you guys now?

The most fun part of the trail was really bumpy, but it smoothed out some on the way back (different trail). It took about an hour and a half to get to the mine, but we stopped a couple of times along the way for breaks. The mine was really cool to see. We're back in Arkansas now and will be here all summer, but we have some really cool and fun things we're working on while we're here.
