For a wedding present (1982), we were gifted a beautiful brown log cabin quilt hand quilted by Amish women in Lancaster, PA. The friends in the ChemE department who were invited chipped in and gave us that quilt. We opened it at the reception per their request. I was blown away and very moved. That quilt had what I imagine to be at least a 14" brown border on it. It was gorgeous! The blocks covered our double bed and came down probably six inches on all four sides. That border brought it very close to the floor. I agree that borders are a great way to enlarge a quilt.

I love how Chelsi gets so tickled at things!! This may get taken off, but I have a long night shirt that says "Sometimes I laugh so hard tears run down my legs!" I wore it at a quilt retreat & initially got teased about it until they all realized how true it is 🤣🤣

We have a 10 foot long arm. We are retired and he has learned to do all the computer work. I chose the patterns and select the thread colors. We discuss pattern locations and he goes to work. We don’t have a business but enjoy doing Quilts of Valor and charity quilts for friends. We have been married 60 years and enjoy working together ❤️. Thanks for all you do for the quilting community. Oh my goodness, that was my Apple Podcast review! I had been in the process of binge re-listening to all of the episodes while beginning a dicey navigation through what would soon be a breast cancer diagnosis. Waiting for test results, I let the playlist run while throwing quilt top after quilt top together, diverting myself as best I could with their happy, familiar vibe, tips and tricks and general quilting to-do. The episode where Billy had been lovingly teased for his devotion to his dog had been the last I'd played (sorry for the lack of context, there!) that day, and it gave me such a laugh I'd so needed, I finally remembered that I ought to write a review, because they so richly deserved some extra support for all the comfort and smiles they'd helped me find during such a difficult time, and would continue to as I moved forward. Today was no exception. I am four-days past a double mastectomy and on the road to recovery as I write this. Sherri, Chelsi and Billy, if you ever wonder if you make a difference in this world outside of your trades, please know that you do. Thank you. 💜

As a longarmer for 17 years I want to say that I have never stretched a quilt or the backing. Sometimes I need to press the quilt or the backing. But they should not be stretched. Loading is very important. They should be smooth and square when put on the longarm, but not stretched. I will say that some quilts are not square, but I would notify the quilt maker with suggestions to fix, sometimes it’s a wavy border, etc.

For increasing a border without just adding strips, it’s fun to add checkerboards, flying geese, or half square triangles. I loved Chelsie’s two quilts so much, I stopped KZread and went and purchased them I have so much of your fabric, I think I will use several of your pattern lines to make the log cabin quilt. Love your podcast. Congratulations Billy on your upcoming marriage.

We had a pot bellied pig when my kids were young, alll because my son comes running up to me at the fair, the kids were in 4H, he was so excited that we couldn't tell him no. Thus we ended up with a 4 week only piglet that we had to feed goats milk, at the time I did not know anyone who raised goats to we had to buy cans of pasteurized goats milk for a pretty penny and of course because she was a baby she ate an enormous amount of milk. Her name was Samantha Jane aka Sammie. Thanks for talking about pot belly pigs

Chelsi…regarding the longarm learning curve: EVERYTHING has a learning curve. It’s like that box of tops you thought were so bad, so didn’t finish them. Agree that you can use your choice of backing but...if the backing is directional and the quilt top is directional make sure you make your quilter aware of this and that they write it down on their instructions of how you want it quilted.

Hello, I love you guys. I have waited to comment until I have caught up to all the videos. I now have watched every video in order 😁. I wanted to share my experience with Laguna Sunrise. I have lived in California my whole life. Grew up in LA and now live in Santa Barbara. I’ve surfed my whole life, always in the ocean, and my husband and I enjoy taking walks on the beach in the evening enjoying the sunset. I wanted to connect to Laguna Sunrise, but I just couldn’t connect. I was thinking, these aren’t California colors. Please keep reading! I work in LA and live in Santa Barbara. I have to drive along to coast for my commute. I was listening to one of the KZread’s that was talking about Laguna Sunrise. It was really windy on my drive and I glanced at the fabric and looked up at the mountains, the mountains were the exact colors of yellows(limey) and greens! The mustard bush was blooming, which is part of our California history. And I literally said ‘What’ out loud! And then I looked over at the ocean, it was so choppy and again it was your exact colors of white and blues. Then!the sunset had the oranges, reds, purples, light blue and white. I was like, there fabric is our colors! And then along the freeway there’s a plant that is not a native, but it grows along our beaches, and it is green with purple and yellow flowers, which put me in an ‘ahhhh’ feeling! And now I am connected! I love this fabric line and have to have it!!!! Thank you for connecting me to my home colors!

I think that sometimes as a crafter, people say you should turn it into a business, but to me business can take the fun out of it. Especially when you have to work with fabrics and make projects you don't care for. In your case you are working with your own fabric and designs, so the fun stays. I retired just over a year ago and I had told my boss, it was time because work was cutting into my craft time. lol.
