Episode 11 - Honda ADV 350 modifications for touring Thailand - Chiang Rai here I come!

Ғылым және технология

#thailand #pattaya #motorbike #retirement
These are the modifications and additions I've done to make the ADV350 into a tourer that suits me. It's definitely cost me much less than it would cost in the UK. Everything I show in this video was bought from Lazada Thailand which is like Aliexpress but everything is stocked over here.
If you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up and share it with random people, I need all the help I can get ;)
If you want to see the uncut and much longer versions of these videos and more frequent uploads, head on over to Patreon www.patreon.com/vortecks
Also, if you can find it in your heart to help me out, please visit one of the following links. I want to stop here forever because it's such a beautiful country with so much to offer but I will run out of money eventually. I've spent a lot of money preparing the bike and I'm going touring in the next month so I need all the help I can get.

    I've done 2,800 miles now mate and it's been the most enjoyable time I've had on a bike. My only gripe is the shoulder pains I get (beneath my shoulder blades). It's only recently hit me that my posture is wrong because I pull back on the bars at speed instead of using my body to push forwards. Lifting the pressure off your feet is the answer. How many mods have you done on yours (apart from the compulsory one by making it look cleaner than when it came out of the factory) 🤣

    PEOPLE, SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON. Good morning Tony, The bike is well molded. I wonder if a motorcycle mechanic / Modder is a protected occupation in Thailand. You would do well with your own garage, maybe you have already given it some thought. I'm looking forward to seeing you up here in the North of Thailand.

  • @Vortecks

    @Vortecks

    A mechanic isn't a reserved occupation and this isn't for trade purpose so I'm 100% safe mate. I have thought about opening a garage but there are mechanics scattered everywhere, I can rode for no more than 5 minutes around here and I found 3 mechanics - One of them was lacing a wheel and he was still doing the same wheel 3 days later, I nearly stopped and asked him if he wanted help 🤣

Buying a new ADV 350 as soon as i get back will outfit it very much as you except for lowering it. Thanks Tony, was waiting for this! This bike has been on my list for a while. All the stuff you do and are going to do, is also on my list! Couple more years before realizing. In the meantime i'll rent one on vacations, after that i'll be doing the Tony-life for real and buy one. So looking forward to your roadtrips (i'm gonna do the MHS-loop in november). Please do a vdo about your safety gear. I saw you have a cool fullface helmet, never saw gloves, bike jacket, pants, etc. I guess taking it easy in the city, its not really neccesary, but how but driving all day on the open road and mountain curves. How you gonna protect yourself? Crashbar is nice (FOR THE BIKE), how bout your own protection?

  • @Vortecks

    @Vortecks

    2 ай бұрын

    I should be doing the MHS loop later this month. The helmet is an Arai Tour X4 and it's the best helmet I've had, zero buffeting at speed unlike a few 'top shelf' helmets I've bought in my time. The safety gear has been somewhat hard to decide on. I need to be covered from the sun from head to toe and also, maintain some level of protection without being the latest 'boil in the bag' supper from Birdseye. The heat and humidity over here are a deadly combination so I've opted for an Alpinestars Bionic body protector (spine and chest) and that's it for the upper part except for some gloves with knuckle guards. The top and bottoms I've got are from Fox, they're used for motocross and they have anti-abrasion inserts but they still allow decent airflow. I wish I could wear all leathers or at least full body armour but I've tried 3 different sets of armour and none of them are comfortable enough to wear for more than an hour, after that it becomes painful to wear them. I might still buy the Alpinestars Bionic full upper armour, not decided yet.

  • @Vortecks

    @Vortecks

    2 ай бұрын

    UPDATE: I've ordered the Alpinestars Bionic full upper body armour. I know it's nowhere near as good as kevlar or any other new materials but it's a compromise, heat exhaustion and dehydration is a serious thing over here and some days, you just can't drink enough!

    There's a place in Bangkok who sells them on Lazada. That doesn't help you in the slightest! What might help you is...... this is just a universal kit, there's nothing special about it. In the kit, it says that I must make a bracket to fit but I didn't, I used what was in the kit and it's worked perfectly!
