I live in Georgetown near Placerville, and during the summers the water is warm enough to swim in. I would say between 60 to 70 degrees depending on the depth of the water.

We need to get caught up on Americas backyard gold then we were thinking of doing other shows. The biggest issue is contesting all the copy right claims from Discovery. It takes weeks and weeks sometimes.

LOL, I live in Happy Camp and am the Special Projects Coordinator for the New 49ers.. I was at the potluck ( in the yellow T-shirt) and talked to Turin briefly, but I was hardrock mining at the time.. AND... not a big fan of the guy... Sadly, Betsy passed away not long after this was filmed... Garrett is cool, and both parties shown know more than depicted... I have made a living full time mining for 25 yrs... if your ever this way, join the club, do an outing, ask if someone could show ya the ropes, you'll likely meet me don't believe the hype

The sniping seems staged, California has been worked hard. I rarely find it laying visible, have to break bedrock or clean out crevices.

@@theprospectinggeologist4347 Hahaa, maybe yeah but I enjoyed your comments; the layman who doesn't have experience on the reality of prospecting could be lead astray big time. Appreciate your take on the episode.🙂 Edit: Scoop dirt, dump dirt!😂...that's the truth!👍👍

To me the show isn’t about him it’s about the average small scale miner and prospector. That’s why i generally like the show so far.

Does it really matter if Dave knows where or how yo find gold? It's not about teaching us who go out and prospect it's geared towards the average person who lives life in front of a screen or someone thinking they may want to get into prospecting. It's meant to give them a push that if that person can do it I can too. The big gold at the beginning grabs your attention and the average people scraping with homemade gear. I've only seen this episode but I'm getting the rest of series. It's to me highly encouraging and makes my fever flare. Great job on this video Matt!

Tv show are intertainment not reality-based. Metal detector guy 2.5 million dollar nugent? Hardware store owner laughed like a school girl . Creepy. Stopped watching

Yep tv is for entertainment. And this show is not made for prospectors it’s made for the average person who knows nothing of prospecting. There are definitely nuggets that have been found in CA and elsewhere that have sold for that amount. Rare but it happens. Overall the show is good and puts the small scale prospectors and miners in a good light.

Awesome! I love the mud motors for running shallow rocky rivers. Are you running the big super max or the smaller home built setup with a canopy? How the mud motor working on the broad. I’ve always wanted to get down there and see how our river running setups would work.
