I wish Epiphone made ES-339s in purple-y/bluish flamed finishes like this. I absolutely love 339s and how they have the best of both worlds in a way with a shape and feel like a 335 and a solid body size. I also love finishes like blueberry and aquamarine bursts, but the closest they seem to get on the 339 is pelham blue (which is the color I own). It would happily welcome a friend if Epiphone released a blueberry burst 339 though! :)

I have the non-figured, vintage sunburst model and really love it! The only thing I may do one day is swap out the pickups. I find them just a little fizzy with dirt pedals...that said backing off the tone knob just a bit helps tame it...overall a great guitar. I tried the Gibson big brother side by side the day I bought it...sure the Gibson finish is nicer, and the pickups sound sweeter, BUT it's certainly not worth almost 5x the cost

I picked up the Inverness Green GC exclusive 335 at the first of the year after lusting over it for a month. Hadn’t intended to buy any guitar, we were just in there to pick up a gig bag for the brother in law for Xmas, saw the IG hanging on the wall. Even the wife said “Ooh, that one is pretty!” which of course I interpreted as permission😆. I didn’t buy it then, but it gnawed at me for a month before I gave in. No idea how it didn’t sell in the interim. Just love it, the action is as good as my favorite ‘77 Les Paul, plays in tune up and down the neck, stays in tune very well and sounds really really good with the stock pickups. I see no need to change a thing. Only thing really wrong with it is the frets needed a really good polishing and one or two sharp fret ends up at the dusty end, and the 13th fret was a bit popped up. Hammered it back down with a plastic dowel, good to go. The coil split is cool, but I don’t really use it. Overall a wonderful guitar. Sounds as good stock as my trusty old Korean Epi 2002 Dot, but I swapped all the electronics out of that one. The IG isn’t nearly as heavy as the Dot, either.

So, when I was at Manny's music in NYC in the 1980s I bought an Epiphone power bass - it's what I could afford as a high school student. I've always had a soft spot for Epiphone since because it's that kid picking up his or her first or second instrument that keeps music alive.

I just bought the Cherry “dot” version from my local Long & McQuade during the 0% financing special. It’s become my go-to guitar because it’s so versatile, balanced, and has a lovely, bright tone. It certainly scratched my ES335 itch effectively! Once I set it up, conditioned the fretboard, and threw a new set of strings on it, it was comparable to a much more expensive instrument.

I don’t have the Epi 335, but I have the Emily Wolfe Sheraton and the new Lucille and love those…. Except for the tuners on the Wolfe. The buttons need the screws retightened fairly constantly, and they’re annoying. I had a Gibson Les Paul Tribute recently, and, while I liked how it sounded, it wasn’t really comfy to sit and play and the neck was fiddly so I sold it. I haven’t really missed it. I’ve been really liking the new Epiphone guitars. I grabbed their 1961 SG Standard with the Burstbucker pickups to scratch the solidbody itch, and that’s been really great too.

Good review and it seems to be a nice guitar for sure. Epiphone has upped their quality control a lot since 2020. If I was looking for another 335 type guitar I would buy one of these, but not that particular color. It does everything that the Gibson version does but for a fraction of the price. Unless it’s very vintage, Epiphones are mostly for playing, not for the resale value.

AAA flame top is gorgeous, the probuckers scream and it has an acoustic pickup snuck onto the fretboard past the 22nd fret... for a 3rd the price of a gibson, it is a lot better than even half as good... that made more sense in my head... it's gooder-er at being a good guitar than i am at playing it!

The one thing I did to my Epi IBG was to replace the epi tuners. The holes are 10mm. I installed Kluson Revolution pearl keystone locking tuners. They are fantastic. Instant major improvement, well worth it highly recommended this mod. The nut on the epi is graphtech tusq fyi. Brilliant guitar, plays better than my Gibson's and Fenders.

@@landonbailey you are welcome. If you do have a look at them they do two versions, the one I have is the G mount which is for the typical Gibson 10mm hole, they have the collar and the srew in 'barrel' nut and washer. Not the press in bushings, which are for smaller holes and no collar. Hope that all makes sense 👍

Great video Landon and yeah, I have the Inspired By Gibson ES335 in vintage sunburst ( with dot inlays ) It doesn't have the flamed top but I love mine as it is. It is an astounding guitar for the money and, because I am now accustomed to, and in love with the feel, I honestly wouldn't be in any hurry to swap it for another 335 ( even a Gibson ) There's no point. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and, having played a few Gibson 335's, I can honestly say, although the Gibson is obviously a better guitar, for me, there isn't enough difference to warrant the price disparity. I also have two Epiphone Casino's ( a Vintage Sunburst and a Worn Olive Drab version ) as well as a Casino Coupe and they are all great. I am thinking about adding a Bigsby to one of the Casino's but I am undecided which one, as yet. I have played a lot of guitars over the years and gone are the days when we had to spend a small fortune to ensure we would have a quality instrument. There are so many amazing low cost / high quality guitars on the market today. I have a Harley Benton Fusion T HH Roasted FNT ( a Telecaster style guitar with a flamed maple top /roasted maple neck and fretboard / Wilkinson Tremolo / Staggered Locking Tuners / Graphtech Tusq Nut / Stainless Steel Frets / Alnico 5 Humbuckers / Coil Split and all for around £300 !! - If that isn't great value I don't know what is. It plays and sounds fabulous too. Keep the video's coming Landon. All the best brother. 🙏
