Epiphone Casino worn olive drab - unboxing

Музыка

Hello,
Thanks for watching :)
Here we go again...
If I look hot and bothered in this vid, that is because it was filmed during a 40C heatwave in the UK.
With that in mind here is the unboxing vid for the superb Epiphone Casino worn olive drab hollow body electric guitar...
Purchased from the lovely people at Guitar Guitar.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and features!

Just got one in the same colour from Guitar Guitar... Its a really great sounding and looking guitar... Can't put it down... Its really good fun to play with those p90 pickups which have a nice organic and vibrant sound to them... An amazing guitar for such a great price.

It’s a good guitar to have nearby if you get a flash of inspiration and don’t want to plug in 😎

Thanks for the unboxing and demo! Been eyeing this for a while now, and wow it's not bad unplugged. Might have to pull the trigger.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated... It's a very nice guitar, setup and unplugged playability out of the box were very good - plugged in it sounds goot also with the p90s going from bright and chimey to dark and mellow on clean tones, to punchy and crunchy with overdriven tones - also good for controlled (or out of control) feedback - however the p90 single coils are very susceptible to hum, hiss and noise - so that's worth taking into consideration too! Let me know how you get on if you decide to pull the trigger... Cheers, Matt 😎

Good choice Matt for the price point. Epiphone Casino’s are amazing guitars. I have a 1994 Peerless Cherry Sunburst Casino and got the Ebony Worn Casino about a year ago. It’s funny cos I have 355’s, Les Paul’s, Strats, Jags, but my main guitar is the Casino. You can’t beat a sweet P90 through a Vox AC30..I want a USA made Casino to compare the differences especially against my 1994 Peerless one.

Impressive collection John. The American ones cost a pretty penny though eh? I do love the tones but they’re quite susceptible to hum and hiss, how do you get on with the noise? Cheers Matt 😎

I got the worn ebony one and couldn't put it down...2 years later, still can't put it down....also picked up the IG ES335 a couple months ago...between those two guitars I cover a lot of sonic ground....I put a bone nut on my Casino and had it setup properly...great guitar..a keeper...you'll love yours as well I'm sure..the Casino is my number one guitar and I have way more expensive guitars.

Yes am loving it as is, got this after getting the HB35... Was interested in the Ebony also but only the olive available when I bought.... With your setup did you swap out the electrics?

@@pedalscapes no I didn't swap the electronics out but I may replace the switch....the pots are CTS and great quality...I like the P90s but try getting a 7 band EQ pedal instead of swapping pickups and you'll find you can get a ton of tones out of them stock....my switch is not as stable on the Casino as the ES335 and they use the same switches. I did learn that my luthier reversed the saddle on the G string to intonate it properly...neat trick.

@@gregmock6808 I'm happy with the tone but noise can be a bit of an issue... My switch seems fine so far... Neat trick indeed with the reversed saddle... Cheers 😎

@@pedalscapes All P90s have some single coil buzz but I don't play it at loud volumes generally so it's never an issue...mine doesn't buzz much.an EQ pedal can sort some of that out ..Lolar does make noiseless pickups though if you prefer them...Rhett Schull put them on his Casino if you'd like to check them out. I think Jack Fossett did as well...both Casino lovers.

@@gregmock6808 Yes, have come across this before, generally Fender single coils have been my go to but the noise can vary depending on the setup and equipment used... I tend to play with the volume dialled back by default which helps. I've got it dialled in and behaving nicely for the PedalScapes setup now... But over the summer I tried some recording and the noise was an issue... Now I have a bit more experience with them it may be worth another short recording wise... Yes the Rhett Schull and Jack Fosset vids, was curious how you were getting on with them... Cheers 😎

Hi Matt. How do you find playing an amped hollow body guitar in comparison to a solid body amped. In terms of feel and tone. Can you see the hollow body having a more central role in your playing ? Sounds great by the way

That's a great question blodger17. At the moment I'm having fun with the Casino in terms of feel and tone, some of that is possibly down to construction (i.e. sometimes the clean tone seems to sound more acoustic than other guitars) and some of it is down to hardware the p90s bring their own colour for example... In terms of how it feels to play I'd say from a tactile response point of view - it feels like it sits well between an acoustic and a solid body... In terms of a central role - probably for the PedalScapes it will get regular use - I did some recording with it also and it's inspirational there too... It will sit alongside the Tele's and others.... Thanks very much for your question and feedback. Cheers, Matt 😎
