I Got a Gibson special with TWO 90s. It was only 250 bucks more. It plays like a dream, has beautiful finsh and will hold its value. Idk how to justify buying one of those epiphones?

The black sides against the blue and binding, along with matching stinger, make it a step above the others. 👍

Sides are not black actually, just look dark from an angle. Would have been a cool touch though.

the blue epi it's a convincer - To convince you to buy a guitar for 750 - The psychology of popcorn pricing - the medium it's a convincer to buy a large for 7$

I have this one, it kicks ass. It also has locking tuners, mine weighs 8lbs 2oz, the blue is all around not just the top, and the pickup, its crazy good. But thats for my use, which is low downtuned doom metal. Many pickups get really muddy with fuzz lower, this retains excellent definition. It's brighter and slightly thinner than my les paul standard with p90's, but that guitar is unusable with fuzz in my home. This guy solves that problem and still retains what i love about p90's with fuzz.

Btw, it’s quite the risk for Epiphone to overcharge and have guitars sit on shelves unsold. I’ve said for a long time (as have business 101 classes) that brands make far more in profits by selling larger volumes/quantities at lower prices. Whoever thought people would pay Gibson prices for Epiphone guitars for more than a minute should be fired. Then the newly hired guy taking the first dude’s place should immediately slash (no pun intended) premium Epiphone prices back to sub $1000 range - like $649-$999 prices depending on the model, specs, features, case or no case, etc. I don’t know how Epiphone can make that happen when they already set MAP and have guitars sitting in warehouses and on store shelves. The only solution I can come up with is by telling their retailers to heavily discount the guitars and then Epiphone will pay the retailers back so they won’t lose any additional money. I think that’s the only way Epiphone can save this pricing situation and guitars not selling until they can revert new stock prices back to what they should be. Problem is, they’ll probably hold out to see how much they can bleed customers dry for the DG-335’s - and they’d be fiscally stupid if they took that risk when they can have a sure thing with thousands of sales at lower prices, all while alienating their core customer base. If I got paid every time I have heard people saying they’d love one of those DG sigs, but they can’t ever afford one . . . I could buy the Gibson DG-335, lol. I really hope the big Gibby cheese is really hearing and seeing this entire situation and will actually resolve this fast - I want to hope he’s not stupid enough to double down on insane, unjustifiable prices few can afford for Epiphones and drive an entire company that is arguably in the best place in its history into the ground. The guitars have been amazing quality instruments in recent years and don’t deserve to be good looking dust collectors that are losing money for retailers and may end up in the trash because they can’t afford the upkeep and storage fees. Please fix this situation ASAP, Cesar - BEFORE the DG-335’s are released! It would be the most #DoEpicShit #DES move of your new career if you’d be the hero who is willing to admit that your team made a risky move that didn’t pay off and then proceeding to help discount all guitars in the field and drop MAP prices on new guitars once again effective immediately. You guys won’t lose a dime by doing the right thing and will definitely make more money in the sheer volume of units suddenly flying out the doors again at prior pricing. #RantOver

Epiphone are doing just fine. The price increase is on par with inflation and increased cost in materials. That's also forgetting that new management increased epiphone quality.

I'm still waiting for an Epiphone Les Paul 50's standard gold top with P90s or humbuckers. No veneers or wrap tail.

I LOVE my gold glory, bought new in jimi’s. I will say this, it’s the loudest p90 I have owned with regards hum. I’ll never sell it though🤘🏼

Dave....I think the blue has locking tuners, whereas the gold were not. So two changes from the gold....still not sure the math adds up.

Noiseless single coil pickups are fine, I don’t personally like them as much as an actual single coil, p90, or Jazzmaster pickups, but to each their own, I just wish companies would stop calling them noiseless single coils/p90s etc, because it’s a crock of shit. It’s as ludicrous as saying “check out my battery-powered passive pickup”

Solid vid. I prefer the older models w the standard P90. This new higher end pricing is just crazy in these different lines. Perhaps there will be some sweet deals on all the unsold stock down the road though lol

What happens when the next adam Jones art guitar comes out or one after that and the price is higher than the first few. That's what im waiting for. Ive said many times price increases are necessary but not providing more to the customer to justify the increase is whats wrong. Epiphone deserves some drama kickback to make them realize the actual value of their guitars.

Sadly, in the U.S. people have become so accustomed to rising prices that they no longer question a price increase whether it's warranted or not. That new economy we got a few years back. Ugh.

I wish they had done a different guitar, my vote would have gone to Epiphone releasing a version of OLE RED - JJN 1953 Les Paul. We like to pick on Joe Bonamassa for "cash grabbing" with a signature model every year, but at least they are always different .

Who else caught Mr. Dave’s Easter Egg where he reversed JJN’s name to “James Jared Nichols”?! 😂😂😂

Pelham Blue is treated as a premium color because of the demand. So I'm thinking it isn't completely the cost of newer sig P90. Looks great tho

Not really I'd wager the gold is the more expensive finish because pigments need to get the gold finish aren't cheep.

Dave, I’ll stick with my excellent gold top version.👍 I bought it earlier this year from GAK for £529 brand new 🍺 It’s one of my favourite guitars mainly because of it’s great neck size and how good the P90 sounds👍🍺 No way is the blue version worth £999.00🤣 I’m not a big fan of Pelham Blue guitars but do own a limited edition PB Junior and SG and ❤ both but don’t see these shifting unless Dave Grohl starts giging one 😳🍺

Its ridiculous literally 3 models with virtually the same specs and nothing changed except for the colour 🙄 A grand for this one and no hard shell case, utter rip off.. Should have even added a neck pickup or make it a humbucker model or something unique. Gold glory was an amazing guitar I have 2 I modded one for humbucker and they are fantastic especially for 700e, but this is taking the piss

I get the unfair conversion against the dollar, but going by that the price really isn't that much of a surprise considering inflation and the cost materials going up. Mahogany especially. The pickup is an interesting choice. Both his other signature guitars use some variation of Seymour Duncan antiquity pickup but are modified. Jared has mentioned this I'm guess it lacks potting which gives beautiful overtones but more prone to feedback issues. I'm sceptical you can get the p90 grunt with a dummy coil other manufacturers haven't but who knows. Great video anyway Dave.

I have a $499 Coronet that I'd stack against any one of these. Great guitars...just a little pricey.

I guess it’s more expensive because of inflation? Other than that I see no justification, epiphone is making it all backwards, they keep increasing their prices and delivering less, on the contrary to other brands that keep giving you more and more for your buck
