As far as I know they are looking for illegal drugs. Hard drugs not necessarily cigarettes

Anna I would like to ask to you that are chronic conditions such as heart problem I had an operation back in 2009 and valve replacement it seems like they are strict on requirements and I have got everything my papers and passport eish am worried please help.

Hi Tumelo, I got for co-teacher a gift when I initially arrived. Got her some flowers and macarons. Now that it’s year end, I want to get my principal, VP, and co teacher some SA snacks. Got a friend going back home soon for the holidays so she’ll bring me back a few things to put together a small gift box of South African snacks for each of them

Thats exciting Erica, graduation, new job!🥳 what a great start to the new year!!!! Congratulations! I wouldnt worry about the blood pressure test, having high blood would not affect your ability to teach. And the main thing they are testing for is drugs. that and TB. No need to stress, it takes a lot to cancle your VISA and then have to find another teacher to replace, when school is about to start in a few days 😇

Wow! Sounds like before one has an operation when they say do not eat anything 😄

Thanks for this informative video. Although I do have a question on the eye test part and am actually so worried. What happens to disabled people (partially sighted) to be specific? Please advise if there are any vision requirements that are in place for EPIK teachers.

Hi Asnath, this is a great question. I believe that as long as it wouldn’t hinder your ability to teach it shouldn’t be an issue but this is my opinion. I would hate to steer you in the wrong direction. ❤️I’d say best to confirm this with EPIK directly. Pop them an email E-mail : epik@korea.kr

My highlight for 2022 is God's grace over my life I know that many people have not seen the new year. And I am grateful for His grace, mercy, love and favor in my life. My husband and I are married for a year and I cannot express enough words to how thankful I am to God for carrying us and my loved ones. 2023, I look so forward to sharing the good news to people and reminding or even sharing with them that we have a wonderful Creator and a Lord that saves and does not condemn and that we should repent and turn away from our sins seek His righteousness. He sacrificed His life for our salvation and it was freely given. I look forward to see all God's wonderful works that will take place in the year we are in because without God we come to nothing and we rest in Him. I praise God now already for the souls to be saved in this year. Annah God bless you. May His peace rest upon you. In all your works and ways know Him glorify God and honor Him with your life. I praise God for a sister and brother in Christ. I pray that whatever you were called to do in South Korea will be filled with Gods will and desire for you. Happy New year! When you are applying for your Korean visa they require a medical check which does check have a TB test. When you get to Korea and have the medical exam it also checks TB

Hi Thalia, tests area done at orientation, which is at the university where orientation will take place. About 30minutes to 45min to get through it all since there’s a lot of you to get through,

Hi Vuyo, for illegal drugs, that seems like a clear scenario for your contract and visa to be terminated. As for diseases and viruses - I cannot confirm which diseases or viruses they would terminate a contract for. If you have a certain disease/virus that you are concerned about I’d say email epik/recruiter to ask hypothetically what happens. For example I know with HIV it has been ruled that it is unlawful to cancel one’s visa or contract should they test positive for HIV on top of that it’s been ruled unconstitutional to test for HIV for the E2 visa.

Hi Andile, no there isn’t - just a routine health check. Just like there isn’t a required height 😋 you can apply now as the application process takes six months by the time it’s into the interview stage you would have long graduated by then 🤓

So when iF a person has HIV do they fail the medical exam?🤣 I Havent tested in like a year and the thought of an HIV Test just frustrates me....Also I am a person that wears glasses(2 lenses) Will that affect my medical results

Hey Zolani, in the past; foreigners where being screened for HIV for VISA applications But since then, there has been a case a few years ago that resulted in this being unconstitutional. As such they dont test for HIV anymore as per the law. No need to worry, they would be violating the law if they test for HIV even more so without your permission. It is also unlawful for them to terminate your VISA and contract for this reason. In terms of your lenses, not to worry. you wear glasses - as such it wont affect your ability to teach 😍
