It's not that easy. Having the motivation, stamina, energy to work as hard as Doug is a gift no less than a natural talent for poker.

I agree with many below. This was a very good, well told story and for a 12 minute video, it sure packs a lot of content and feels like a half hour worth of vlog.

Doug this is my 2nd comment on KZread in years and I just have to say these high stakes stories from back in the day are incredible, please do more it's brilliant to listen to and I have to say it's more than a bit inspiring

This is the best video you even did. Period. I was at the top of another thing once, I remember coming up and the process of getting there. Our stories and ah ha moments on the way up are similar. What a great feeling. Hard to find that opportunity again in life.

I've now watched around 25 Polk videos now-- and I found this one to be the most valuable. The quality of the monologue was genuine and unscripted-- which resonates with the game of Poker itself.

This was a truly epic tale, told beautifully and hilariously.

firefight33 To put it simply: Ben didn't fold enough, and Doug capitalized on that by focusing on getting value from his hands, like a boss. He stated somewhere that he didn't bluff as much as he normally would.

This story is particularly interesting, because I had the opportunity to play against Sauce a few yrs ago when i was in Vegas. At the time i didn't know who he was, but i was introduced to him, by his friends, when he sat down. Since he was sitting right across from me, and we were playing 4 handed most of the time ,I had the chance to talk to him, and ask him a lot of questions (cool guy...even though the cards were not going well for him,at the time,and he lost 38k, when we played).

Doug, if you will write a book about your development as a poker player - i will definetly will buy it, even if will finish my poker career before that. It always exciting to hear/read about so pasionated people.

wow, honestly, respect to Kanu for putting ego aside and making an incredibly disciplined decision to quit another reg exactly when he realized the other reg was no longer a spot. MOST players, including some of the best in the world, would not have had so much discipline.

PANTTERA1959 he showed you quickly the game tree in this video. A high level strategy is when you're taking care of every node in your game tree and make sure every hand maximizes its EV
