Nice to see that I feature in your footage quite a bit, lol. (You do realize that without the controlled speed by the lead car and enforced stops for the 'rolling road closures' you would never have seen the front of the 'race' again after the first timed climb!!!! - pretty much the same goes for me, lol). Great event and nice to see my local rides on film.

Hey mate, for sure - your yellow Flandrian socks are unmistakable 😎…. I’d rather ride without it but understand the reason for it. The lead car was a bit excessively slow on the descents. We both rode in the top 20/30 all day so it wouldn’t have changed too much, it would have just been a little more enjoyable… Like you say though, still a great event and fantastic ride 👌

@@daveridesagain All in all, an awesome event for sure. The reasons for the controlled speed and enforced stops are valid with the time limited full road closures. I rode a great event in Murcia a couple of weeks ago with 'closed roads' and the reality was that the roads were closed for us in the front two groups but the guys towards the back of the event were pretty much left to fend for themselves! The Aitana option makes a better event for all abilities! Ironically, if you want a free run at all the descents then lose more time on the climbs, lol!!!!!! After getting a PB up Col d'Rates I sat up and rolled to the finish in 28th place and there is a great bit of footage of you flying past me on the way down to the finish!!!! Great footage of the whole event.

That looked great fun Dave, miserable weather back in Blighty so you're deffo doing the right thing by escaping over there! Shame about the lead car, but nice to have a car and team clearing the roads for you. I did a sportive in the cotswolds on the weekend, complete with drivers shouting at me as they drove past and plenty of close passes as always!

Marchas in Spain have a rolling road block so most of the event is on closed roads. The car stops the field getting too stretched out. They are better than sportives in Uk where you fight the cars.

@@drummerman122 yeah totally 👍… would have been nice to enjoy the descents a little 😬… I’ve ridden quite a few where the lead car doesn’t get involved at all though and just lets you ride between stops. Was still a great event regardless 😎
