Just can't beat these type of rides. Challenging, fun, then rewards you with the views and a ride through a stream type thingy ma jig. Perfect day, apart from the drive home 😊

Oddly I recognise a lot of these trails. I laughed at Marc's response to falling into the bush 'I'm fine' he's a tough & very determined guy.

That coastline was beautiful. It must have been been really something in real life. That vintage BMW is a real looker, too. I admire those guys doing that kind of offroading on the bigger bikes. Especially that GS! GS guys always say it can be done, and here’s the proof!

It was pretty amazing being up there on the bikes. It is a lovely part of the world for sure. I love the old school GS, a proper go anywhere motorcycle... but yeah, Marc makes the big 1250 seem as easy to throw around as an enduro bike!

The BMW sure didn’t like that rut. Very cool trail and c’est une bonne raison pour vivre 👍

One moment you're looking out to sea, an hour later riding through a stream, then into dense rainforest! 😂 A fair old journey for you mind, I didn't envy you driving all the way back after a fair day in the saddle. That looked amazing. The coastal path 1/4 way in was right up my street but oh man, later when you were through the river looked epic. North Devon looked lovely, yet another place I've never been

I was so stressed when packing... had I ridden down I would have noticed straight away... is made how we are creatures of habit and if we break a routine, we forget everything! 😀

That was a good work out for you Hippo, let the other 2 on big bikes. Too much for me nowadays. A while ago when we were looking at the similar view across the sea, our leader Chris said you can see Wales , and bless him Ernie who is no longer with us said l can't see the Whales !

Brilliant vid mate. Ken is the best green lane tour guide in North Devon 🙂 He took me out back when it was all nice and dry 😎 My first of two vids is out on Sunday. I don’t recognise a lot of the lanes you were on here 🤷🏻‍♂️ Love that stretch along the coast though 👌🏼

Props to the guys on their BMWs, but a wise choice on your part to go with the Beta. 👍 Watched a bit more now and it's good to see your compadres also taking the opportunity to study the local flora and fauna up nice and close in the bushes! 😊

Nice one! Loved that place on top of the hill with the sea views. The big puddles... not so much! I recently was out for a whole day doing a workshop which I filmed. Got home: no sound! Microphone wasn't properly plugged in or something 😑

We'll not have any of that next week mate, although we had a bit of rain yesterday and today, so we may have some puddles in places. Ahh, it is gutting when the gremlins spoil the vid... I was so cross with myself forgetting my mic... I was running a different helmet from usual

Yes, there were a few differences Goose, Sort of missed a few that you did with us, than added a couple of different ones, we're blessed enough with lanes up here to be able to jiggle them around a bit😊

I lived in Devon for 16 years and rode plenty of lanes, but I dont recognise any of these. Looks like I need to plan a trip.

If you want to ride all day and not wear yourself out the best power to weight ratio will be a 300cc to 350cc 4-stroke off road bike / enduro / whatever. You can go up to a 450cc in power to weight ratio but you will tire yourself out quicker. Unfortunately for the BMW your mate got to experience a mis match in power to weight ratio and was tiring himself out frequently hence dropping.

I think people should just have fun when playing bikes, it's not all about power/weight, often the enjoyment can come from pushing yourself. Marc enjoys the challenge of the big GS and has made videos explaining that he doesn't really want a lighter motorcycle to trail ride as he enjoys the bigger one more. Had the timing been different, I'd have probably been on my Aprilia Tuareg 660 for this ride instead of my Beta and have been loaded up with camping gear... I was glad to be on the lighter bike quite a few times along the route as it got quite tricky in places, but I'd have still had fun on the bigger, heavier bike 🙂👍

@@HippoDrones Yes, you've summed it up well...... Green lane riding isn't a competition where you have to ride flat out all day, head forward, elbows up.... That's purely for the Enduro track (or should be) If it was all about power to weight i wouldn't have stuck with the same bike for the past 40 yrs! It's about riding what suits you and riding at your personal level..... Enjoyment of our pastime is what it's all about whatever you choose to ride. 🙂

Yep, the 'magnetic rut'! Marc and I had both warned him, there's something about that particular rut, If you even glance at it, even acknowledge that it's there, It'll pull you right in to its depths! 😂😂
