I'm too much of a hermit. And I'm pretty anti-social and opinionated (just ask anyone who's worked with me). Hearing other music going on would drive me nuts. I'd spend a lot of time wear noise cancelling headphones, which would not be good for the music. My ideal studio would be in the woods with no one around for 5-10 miles. I'm also too old and jaded. And I don't use the word 'vibe' in all its permutations to survive around today's young musicians.

@@PAINFULLYHONESTTECH Sorry for the dark sarcasm! The first part I really meant tho. Hearing other music coming from the other rooms would drive me crazy too, and probably derail my musical thoughts/ideas. I much prefer to work alone and in my own quiet space. I'm old and jaded as well! (and I'm probably a little weird! lol)

Since I don’t have a lot of space I’ve considered recently getting into sampling, midi, and virtual instruments. I didn’t realize how advanced some of the stuff has gotten. They literally have 1 to 1 software recreations of famous instruments. I was also shocked at the guitar tones.

Great looking studio! Love the idea of having a few people have studios in a house, love the fact that there is no typical bed rooms. Its a home completely turned into a studio. It might be cool if a couple of friends all had mix rooms, and shared access to a live room in the basement or something like that!! Super fun!

Now Dan's room setup I can relate to. Basic solid gear, ready to go; not overwhelmed by thousands upon thousands of dollars of equipment that I'll never own, like some of the other studio tours (which I also thoroughly enjoy!) but that are pretty much travels through fantasies I'll never know. Love the house sharing, separate room setups. Great idea. Bet a lot of work gets done in those rooms.

Greetings, amazing video. I live just down the road in Chattanooga and I love the fact that you featured this studio. I was just telling some of my artist that the biggest hits were made in simple environments. I love that there wasn't a tone of super high-end gear and that they use whatever gear is available. Just earned a sub. Keep up the good work and if you are in the area hit me up

If Dan is watching this: I have the same Studio Trends 46" cherry desk & sidecar. I have problems with the large plate under the desk vibrating. Are you running into similar problems? I'm tempted to remove the plate, but it looks like it may be structurally important.

would be kinda dope for them to eventually wire everything with dante so they have zero latency access to every room in the house that they setup. then they can set up a room or two as sort of a "live" or tracking room they all can access and share. otherwise...what a dope concept.

I have to ask. What did this house cost? Does the studio actually generate that much income? That's amazing if it does. I was always under the impression that Nashville is almost buried in studios. Made me wonder how any made money if there are so many. Especially when you think about how many artists are doing it all on their own. That house in Toronto would be about a million and a half if not more depending on the neighborhood.

Yeah I was wondering if this guy was still on the payroll, if you know what I mean. He spends 10 hour days gratis with songwriters who MIGHT hire him down the line to... what? Produce? Does he get songwriting/publishing $?

Good video. IMO it is probably not ideal to admit that you and the artists are hitting up Spotify to "chase something similar." Inspiration is fine but... I'm probably old fashioned but when I think of true art- I think of originality. I doubt that you never saw Picasso or Beethoven spying the work of others for inspiration. Then again, in 1770 there was no internet. I am a realist and I'm sure many do this and likely fairly often. That free admission however could really build a future case should "a Spotify artist" "ever" feel like they were ripped off- just saying. There are only 12 notes in the musical alphabet so much is "borrowed."
