An evocative mix of the familiar and the inspiring. Very effective. Beautiful orchestration. Thank you for sharing.

So so nice! Certainly more majestic than the piano version, which you already know I love ;) Uplifting and intriguing.

"Given my little finger" when in fact you have given your most valuable asset, your time, to be able to have these tools now.

I have to say that any of the individual parts, Brass, Woodwind, percussion etc, would fit the bill, but when all mixed together, many of the nuances are lost. As others have pointed out, It does have a Disney feel. Very magical of course, but I would have liked a bit more darkness and creepiness at the conclusion. Very impressive orchestration. Well done Chris.

Lets acknowledge that the Major Theme sounds like the Disney Intro Theme.

Three masterpieces right there: 1 and 2 are your piano "sketch" ('etude for accomplished pianists' would be my wording suggestion😇), and orchestrated version, third masterpiece is this masterclass in cinematic composing and orchestration, richly packed with information of incredible value and benefit! Wow! Consider me doing a standing ovation, for real! I guess, the rest of us are lucky that you hadn't officially participated, cause I feel that only a few of the entries come into the vicinity of this level of skill, wow! So good! 👏 But, please, please tell us what patch you used for the piano sketch, it's got some interesting extras texture to it in the sustain part, please, please, pretty please?!😇

Thanks Wes. The basic piano is a pianoteq U4 model that tweaked to taste. The effects chain has wobbly lofi tape, delay, and then reverb. The effects are loud, but no highs or lows, so the piano is clear.

@@ImpliedMusic , I'd really feel compelled to go into more detail and dissect, but I suppose that's what your students and followers pay for and wish I'd have that opportunity and means to do like them. There's so much to point out here as takeaways or points of conversation for consideration. Sigh. OK. I'm more than grateful for the freebie here, this is really, really profound, musicwise and where I'm concerned and actually you point out quite a bit of that already in your excellent analysis here! Actually sat down to figure out and learn at least some fragments from the piano sketch and theme, quite a mile or two away for now from getting to play it fluently like I did in my days when attending weekly piano lessons in High School and practicing classical pieces. But this here gives me some new wind with actually practicing and learning much harder again. :-) So it's all good!

Thank you for this. I've been kong fascinated with how sight informs sound and visa versa. This particular installment illuminates that world of sight/sound in a way that makes sense. What does the picture sound like? What does the sound lookn like?

Nice video! I like the piano version more. Orchestra version sounds to me too... generic.

I really like both, but did you consider keeping the piano as the lead instrument and building some orchestration around it? I would have been very interested to have heard the result of that!

I did, of course. For the purposes of illustration, teaching, I decided to mute it completely.

Lovely orchestration. Of course, you're about to be sued by Disney, because the melody is way too reminiscent of "When You Wish Upon A Star."
