How to play the drums. In this weeks lesson we have got a cool sounding drum beat on the toms. The groove has got a half time tribal feel to it and incorporates some bonham style triplets and flams. I hope you like it!

I think I've told you this before, but the way you count the beats with the names of corresponding body parts ("hands feet right left right feet) makes learning a new beat *so much easier*. I used to just give up out of frustration but that makes every beat so much more accessible. Yay! Thank you!
Finally got this after a week of trying--fantastic beat! Thanks for the clear explanations.
This guy is ace I am learning loads of the guy keep them comin mate.
Very nice job.
I like it when the two-hand hits flam...my ears like it better anyway. More tom grooves please! Cheers

Yeah, the flams really add to the groove. Check the back catalogue of lessons for more tom beats.
Nice!
can you show us how tobtune your toms? in one of your videos :) cheers!
This was a really cool beat and I like it a lot! You explain and break things down really well :) I've been wondering what that little "ending fill" you do in almost all of your videos? You do it around 0:20 in this video the first time and then again at 7:54ish. I've heard it elsewhere too and I'm curious about the sticking for it. Anyways as I said before, this was a really nice vid and I'll probably use it for a song or two. Thanks!

Hi Winnie, thanks for your comment. That little fill I always play at the end of playing is RLRK. The RLR are triplets and played really fast in a sweeping motion and then finish it off with a kick. Hope that helps!
awesome!
