I love how you design! You keep the character of the chateau with the paneling but use modern furniture! So many other chateau owners go with all period pieces and they don’t feel lived in! Love your style!

Running ductwork throughout, like a NYC loft, for air conditioning. But if it's not listed & they were "Modernizing" it's where They have to live so it may as well be comfortable for Them. It could still be changed back if they ever sell.

how should a chateau be? There are 45,000 of them in France so I imagine there can't be a set look? They are built in different periods and styles, many are just homes, houses, Manoir and houses need to evolve and be lived in@@KeithWiggins-xc1sf

It's refreshing to watch a video where people are not comparing their country of origin with their new adopted country. Thank you. It somehow devolves into a bashing of one at the expense of the other, and what's the point. I recognize how difficult it is to set up cameras, think about interesting angles, all whilst climbing up and down ladders; as an experiment I tried talking into my camera as I went for a walk on a paved lane, and realized doing those two things, plus thinking of interesting things to say confirmed it, plus one more realization. I have nothing interesting to say, and I've got an annoying voice. So no youtube channel for me. But I'm glad you have this. It is one of my favourite channels to watch.

Just when I think you can’t possibly outdo your last project. You surprise me and do! It is simply magnificent, restfully and above all, cozy! The mixture of furniture the soothing colors makes it a lovely getaway! You are such a talented couple and just a perfect match temperamentally. After 35 years here I do the French thing, a fitted sheet and comforter slipcover...changing them regularly...along with the matching pillow covers...I just shake out the comforter after letting the bed air..I also vacuum my mattress and pillows. once a month...allergies. I have a handmade patchwork quilt my Grandmother made for my parents wedding in 1960 as my bedspread.

It must have felt like a great relief to paint your bedroom the light and soothing colors. It really seems like a high end suite with all the comforts yet with enough task separation that keeping things organized should be the natural thing to do. And the cats definitely approve!

I do enjoy this chateau channel the most, mainly for Amanda's dry sense of humour, but also Lincoln's master of all trades talent and his amiable and easy going personality. I like that the chateau is a family home, that it's smaller than most and the setting is stunning, so many mature trees, even closer to the house and so many acres.

Your bedroom is beautiful....I couldn't take my eyes off your cat, he or she was kneading the chair cushion while you were talking...Sooo precious.❤❤

The off-white with pink undertones balances so well with the green on the trim and paneling. Your use has me rethinking how the paint I use here in the State, while excellent quality Ben Moore, is plastic. The mix of modern and classic is so well done and the upholstery of the chairs melds with that. I can see your channel doing well with Europeans who live in older homes and also mix modern design into their homes. The dressing room and bedroom are beautiful. This is an old vlog, however I really enjoy your humor and your style. I'm so glad you do not give in to the design critics! As a retired designer with a builder husband, you two would be great clients. A designers job is to quietly guide the client through options, help with scale, balance and of course BUDGET. As to making our bed… it was only after moving to Panama 10 years ago and living in what was more often than not a “very hot place,” that I discovered the joy of not making the bed, as I was taught a lifetime ago. I start with a fitted sheet, then add a top one, not tucked in at all! Then when it’s cooler or more damp, throw on a light weight blanket on the other two. Who knew it could ever be so effortless?! I’m with you. Easy and comfortable, though 100% white cotton is good enough for us. Your fur babies and I love your renovations. Beautiful!

A beautifully classic and clean and modest transformation! I love your collection of eclectic furniture and keep it all functional and fun. I'm with you on the not making the bed brigade. I just toss my duvet and throw the pillows up too, and as far as tucking the sheets, my mom taught me to do that as the proper way to make the bed, but as an adult I came to the realisation that I really don't like my legs pinned down so the sheets and duvet remain untucked forever. lol... thank you for another lovely video and showcasing your progress on your home and your beautiful cats.

Your rooms look terrific. You just need to live how you like stuff! All the pundits say to pull furniture out from the wall, but I like mine pushed back. They all use a jillion throw pillows on a bed - we have zero. Oh, we just pull the sheets and quilt up, reasonably straight, no tucking in - and call it good. I always piece our quilts so we have guidelines that land on the edge of the mattress, for pulling them up straight. I would have throws over those lovely chairs as a cat hair barrier, just as you mentioned. You've done a remarkable job. Bravo and brava.

With all due respect, criticism when it is well intended it s not a dirty word, but a starting point for a discussion which sometimes can lead to better ideas/solutions/ inspiration. Lincoln and Amanda create their own home based on their aesthetic and ideas and on what they feel suits them best. Therefore, no matter what we say or think, still they do whatever they think best bc it is their interpretation of what beautiful is. Indeed they do a wonderful job, and quite a painstanking work st times but it their hone they are creating. Everyone would do the same thing thing for their home.

I'm Californian, Bay Area actually! I have a queen bed just for me; its my favorite thing! I don't tuck top sheets and blankets or covers. I use a fitted bottom pulled tight, queen or king duvet covering a comforter and sometimes a top sheet between the bottom sheet and duvet to keep the duvet clean longer or when it's extra cold. I don't make the bed first thing, I throw back the covers to air the bed as a nod to Japanese and European styles that leave the duvet folded at the bottom in order to facilitate drying out. Then I make it next time I come in, sometimes, unfortunately, that's rather late. If I use a top sheet I don't tuck it at the bottom on my side, only on the other side to keep it in place, otherwise it confines my toes too much leading to cramping. I use way too many pillows, love it! I use organic 600 ct ave percale or sateen, love the feel, can't abide polyester, kinda picky I guess but I havent had the opportunity to try linen and would like to. I have a 12 in mattress and have no trouble getting sheets deep enough, but the tops shrinks in the washer/dryer as I use use warm or hot water making it really hard to get the sheet on and tucked tight all the way around, often I need help! Thats my whole bed story! Good luck getting a King or Calif King in Europe, let us know how it goes, please. You could use the queen in a spare room, linens and all!

I really get joy out of watching each of you in the process and in your happy, playful interactions. Great work in your bedroom paint type and color choices. The cats would have left the room if the paint smell was like the stinky makes. The look is calming and relaxing AND I love how you arranged your furniture. The view from both windows are wonderful. The chairs will eventually find the perfect throws as the weather changes to cooler and colder Temps. Would a shared flat, but soft and yet stiff enough upholstered ottoman be helpful to put your feet up onto and could hold a flat serving tray to hold those coffee-filled mugs for both of you?
