EPIC AQUARIUM EPOXY RESIN Floor: How to Pour 12k feet in 12 metallic epoxy colors

In today's video, Im going to show you how we poured a metallic epoxy floor in 12 different colors on a 12,000 square foot project.
First we had to prep the floor for the epoxy resin by grinding the concrete to remove old glue and paint.
Once the paint was removed, we had to patch all of the rough areas of the concrete floor to create a smooth seamless surface.
The next step is to apply a moisture vapor barrier epoxy coating to the entire floor. We mixed a metallic pigment in this coat so that the entire floor would be one solid color.
We came back the next day and poured a metallic epoxy coating across the entire floor. This aquarium project had different themes in each room so we had to mix 2 or 3 different colors in each room to match the theme.

Luckily enough you have a good eye on how to execute their vision. Looks awesome and I remember in one of your videos you had to redo\patch up a small section due to someone walking all over it before it completely cured.

Thank you! It took us a long time to find the right products here in the US too. You just have to keep looking. 👍🏻
Do you use anything in your urethane top coat to make the floors less slick/ making less of a slip or fall hazard?
@TimDCVA

No. The urethane we use has a rating >0.6 for Coefficient of Friction... so it is considered to be safe for that environment.
Great

Great video!! Did you have to torch out the bubbles or spray denatured alcohol?

Thanks! No we didn’t have to do anything. The material flowed out pretty well on its own. 👍🏻
What brand of epoxy did you use for this project?

We used Duraflex for this one.
Do you happen to know what dewalt models are in the video at 0:53? Grinder, dust shroud, dust extractor.. looking at buying the same small set up. Do you like them or would you recommend a different brand? Thanks!

Here is a link to all of our favorite tools. www.amazon.com/shop/timdcva I like the dewalt grinder + dewalt shroud because they actually work well together. We’ve tried other brands of shrouds and I can never get them to fit & work as well as the dewalt combo. The dewalt hepa vac is great. We have a bunch of them & use them all the time.

@@TimDCVA Thank you for replying so fast! I sincerely appreciate it! I’m looking at dropping a good bit of money on a small grinding set up and hearing from your first hand experience running a company definitely means a lot to me. Do you ever do any work along the NC and VA border? I’d love a chance to come learn from you on one of your projects if that could ever be a possibility. I used rustoleum once and that got me hooked..I found a great supplier with better products and I’ve done 6 garages since then for family and friends. Looking to use the grinder to take off my rustoleum floor and replace it with a metallic epoxy.
