French Antiques Auction , A Break From Renovation
It has been non stop and we are both tired but Edd's back needed an afternoon off !
So we went on a little date !
An Antique Sale in the near by Auction House .
It was also a way to give so many of you a little break from renovation :) and something else to see
So if you love antiques ... from cabinets , paintings , mirrors , armoires ...
Over the years we have found so many amazing pieces in the auction house
What we love about it is getting something for less as no one wants it or seeing that sometimes pieces go for so much more or the opposite don't sell at all ...
Edd has his eye on something beautiful will he be able to get it or will someone else outbid him ...
Huge Thank You to everyone for their Love & Support x

Wow for some reason I really like that elegantly reading painting. A lot.
The library steps! !!!!
Edd, you should have bought the library steps for Anna and the kids! Very nice video. Need to see more of the beautiful and stylish Anna.
EDD... "You're not buying anything!" 😝🙄 Anna, you have the patience of a Saint darling.
Good Lord… why does it always seem like Ed is so rude to Anna? For the last few videos I keep thinking it’s all in my head, but low and behold he’s inconsiderate or just plain rude to her again. How upsetting to witness. Anna is so sweet!!!!
He may say, he buys nothing for you but in reality everything is for your happiness, including yours. It’s a subvertive way of looking at it and of loving you at the same time. He is simply being sneaky about it.

No its les romantic as it seems: in my country they call this: marryd whit cold paper(this says all) His parents the house was from: and always stays that way( thats ok and good) but all HE buys on his card: believe me thats also always his, not hers. Iam happy iam not married anymore to my ex for this reason: woman need to work (also) for theirselves: not only to make their husband better! And believe me it feels extremely cheap to only smile and never have the final word to buy something you just like :(

Perhaps Anna needs to work her tail off at another wedding business so she can go ahead and freely bid & buy things that interest her. We all need to live with things we love and we all should earn, save and spend our own money.

Ed certainly is a smart guy. He suggests things that he knows Anna would love and as much as he would. Yes. They both have a loving respect for each other. Ur a great couple. Working so hard restoring Mansions!!!
Anna, I subscribed today because I think you are such a genuine, lovely lady. You are so kind and considerate of others. These qualities make your vlogs really enjoyable. Thank you and wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas from Australia 💗
I loved auction day. Plz do it again. It is a lot of fun to visit through you. I was picking my favourites too. Yes, thank you, Vicki

@@normamurray4450 not so sure: brat & rat. I admire Ed immensely for his talents and intelligence. This blog is fascinating. I grew up in a historic home and have restored older homes. My mom was an antiques dealer and I'm a designer so their endeavors and talents are appreciated. My impression is Ed doesn't allow Anna equal partnership (gives a little but he prioritizes the decisions and money). Frankly it's none of my business, it's their marriage. I like both of them and the vlog is wonderful.

Great.. so many precious items .... A very interesting auction. Thanks a lot for sharing your discoveries and "coups de coeur" ❤
Anna you’ve should get all the gifts a girl of your caliber can endure. You seem so humble and accommodating and very well loved by your viewers.
That is a beautiful and really reasonably priced, silk Persian carpet made in tabriz. Tabriz is very well known as the world centre of carpet weaving. Tabriz rugs usually have ivory backgrounds with blue, rose, and indigo motifs. They often feature symmetrical and balanced designs. They usually have a single medallion that is surrounded by vines and palmettos. The good rug is valued by its weaving style and the number of the knots that used in the weaving. Silk rugs usually very expensive and most of the time they are hanged on the walls like tapestries. And that is not a signature, it is the name of the style (old cherbani).
Thanks for taking us along. The carpet was so beautiful, I can’t believe no one wanted it. So many beautiful items, most out of my budget but, it’s still fun to experience an auction full of so many amazing things.
Anna you are so sweet and diplomatic. That is why people love you.
It is good to see the prices and what they went for. We learn something each day
Thanks so much for attending this auction and the extra editing. Please do more, I miss the excitement.
Great video. I’m jealous of French armoire prices. I paid 1,200 dollars for a double walnut one 35 years ago.you have amazing prices there. Low inventory here. Ohio USA
This was really fun and educational! Thanks for taking us along!!

Loved this vlog! Very interesting to see the prices. Just FYI, Erard pianos are marketed as "the finest pianos in the world" and old, rare or art-case examples are worth 10s of thousands of USD (Chopin owned an Erard). The one you looked at is from the 1920s and would retail, unrestored for about €10,000. @8:20 this is not a desk it is a mid-19th-century English dressing table without its mirror, which is, I think, why they placed the beautiful 18th-century mirror where the original would have been. If it was a writing desk it would have had a writing surface probably made of inlaid leather. The drawer stacks, either side, was a common design feature and the support brackets for the mirror would have been attached to the top of each stack.

I thought the price of the desk was more than reasonable. I would have been thrilled to get the mirror for the going price of 320 🤗

@@maynardgreenhouse Yes, I agree. 😀 The prices seemed very reasonable. I even think the auction prices for the two equestrian paintings were very reasonable considering the quality of both the paintings & the beautiful frames.
Another joyous trip. Thank you guys
Really enjoyed a peak into auction house there in France. Considering that I'm in the US, it's very interesting to consider costs/age of the pieces. I'm on the hunt for an old persian rug, and I find that rugs are often discarded here. fingers cross I get lucky! Congrats on the chairs, you two have made lovely refurbished/reupholstery projects before. Keep up the happy spirit : )
I love this vlog. So interesting. I hope you can do more.
That was very enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
Beautiful items especially that rug 🥰
Blessings to you both
Loved this! It was exciting to see what was for sale at the auction & finding out how much items sold for! Thanks for taking us along!
That was a fantastic video. Thanks for filming it, Educational and fun in one. I was also pleasantly pleased, to not watch Edd breaking his back with concrete pouring. It was nice to see him stand straight and get a rest-lol Merry Christmas Anna, Edd and Family. Wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous, New Year. Cheers!
Great idea to do these auction videos, totally enjoyable! So many beautiful items!
Love watching the auctions
Edd,thanks for taking on this outing!! I spent a lot of "Imaginary Chateau" money. My "Imaginary Chateau" is looking better today!!! Merry Christmas from Vermont
Oh my comparable furniture like that here in the US would go for 10 times those prices. Brand new armoires from Pottery barn and restoration hardware go for 3k+ and lack style. You are so lucky to live in a land of exquisite home interiors. Yes please more of these auction and brocante videos
Wow that was wonderful thanks so much
yes yes yes another sale. thank you so much.
That rug was beautiful! If I had it, the cats would puke on it just like the IKEA rugs, they aren't picky😀Thanks for showing us a French auction. Very interesting and It would be hard not to buy something!
What a fun vlog - So interesting and amazing how the prices vary depending on who's attending or what they're looking for . Thanks for taking us along Ed and Anna. You're such fun!! xx

Lovely video. We are so amazed at the prices for such nice pieces being so low as compared to the US. Glad you got some chairs Anna. That little corner chair was sweet. Really liked the library steps, the daybed and of course those massive armoires. Hope you do more of these videos, even if they are a lot of editing work for you Anna. You do a great job btw. Enjoy your purchases.
Thank you for taking us along. So fun BUT, The library steps.. LOVE ! ! ! 80€ great price.... I would have snapped it up. Commode fabulous! Pink & blue picture is so wonderful. but the Hendriks frame alone certainly could be worth 1000€, no? Much luv from Ohio

I loved those two horse paintings! I’m so happy Anna got something. She does so much so she deserves to buy something she likes. But Edd, I was hoping you could get at least one of the horse paintings. Maybe in your brocante visits you will find an exceptional painting hiding behind some furniture at a very cheap price. I love searching for hidden treasures in antique stores. Fun video!! Hope you both had time for a nice lunch at a cafe! 💕💕💕
The auction was very interesting. I can't wait to see the chairs, Anna. I'm in love with that carpet!!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Sure learnt a lot, love all the information talking about the pieces so interesting & fun! Thanks Edd & Anna!!!❤️🇨🇦
This video was really fascinating. We were introduced to such beautiful pieces of history. Then, we were surprised at the auction values and sales. 'Glad that Anna found a few bargains that she liked.
One thing that amazes me about any of the furniture pieces you show at the brocantes are at an amazing price. Here in the US if you go to an antique furniture store they have a price about three or four times higher than you have on them in France. But our paintings are cheaper over here than what they sell for over there. We are so sad that you move have to sell your home. It is so beautiful. We are praying there will be a way that you will be able to keep it. Love your videos.
That was fun. Merci! It’s amazing the prices for items depending on the venue. I love the paintings with countryside scenes, marquetry wood furniture, and burl wood furniture. So many other beautiful pieces. I’m in the states (middle east coast) and was shocked at how cheap furniture and chandeliers went for at a Los Angeles brocante (Vloger video) compared to here.
Interesting pricing for some real period pieces. Helps to know the values and to follow. Rug was and probably still is worth what it was to someone however not worth buying to find out. Investment piece perhaps. Relaxing day to compare unique auction listings. Entertaining Sunday Vlog! Dig the accent on the Auctioneer!

Great video. Absolutely love French auctions. But the ones I used to go to were much lower prices. My friend went to a house auction & bought a whole room for €8.
Thank you for taking us along to the French auction. Id have snapped up the carpet. It would make a great piece in an entrance room under a beautiful chandelier.
Great video! I saw so many beautiful things. You did a wonderful job on the entire edit Anna. I’m glad I wasn’t there, I’d be broke! You put so much work x effort into this auction, thank you!
Yes, I’ve seen that on Antiques Roadshow that often the bows are worth so much more than the violins.

So glad you got the wee chair . Really enjoyed spending time doing something a bit different with you guys. Personally don’t know much about auctions. Thankyou blessings to you and yours Ontario Canada 🐝
Remember, painting, especially when you don't know the subject, I for covering up the empty spot on the wall! If you know them, or have been to that place, or plan on going to that place, baby, treasure!! I do like the way you're showingthe treasures ahead of the auction. It really makes one wish we could pop over and visit with you by what we want and pop home! Would be nice if we could do it the Star Trek Way click click and we're there, ha ha!❤. 😂
When the 100 000 franc carpet didn't sell I watched the woman in the brown coat in front of you. I noticed her shoulders were shaking with laughter.
Awesome video and Anna your editing was fabulous! Thank you! Merry Christmas!

That was fun to watch. I have never been to a auction before. Bummer on those armors they were all beautiful. I would love ❤️ one of those for our 5 acre farm in Michigan. But this biggest bummer you should have bidded on that rug. It was so stunning. It looked like someone's eyes behind a masque..Great Job.

I love going to auctions. Haven’t been in many years. Good for you Anna getting the chairs! I was hoping you all would buy the carpet. So many beautiful colors in it! You guys are so fun!
Sébastien & Pierre Erard the most famous and oldest French piano firm, they were the Steinways of the 19th century and 800 euro is a bargain, equivalent Steinway today would go for 40000-70000 euro ;-) This one is from about 1920-1935. I would like to know the serial number ( left of the cords, behind the metal bar near the case) A new upright would be 2000 euro ...
I wanted that carpet! Absolutely gorgeous……..too bad I live so far away!!
It would be great to do another similar vlog, but pre auction. The auction house does online bidding so your viewers could bid. Just a thought. Thank you so much Anna for all the time you dedicate to editing. It’s not easy!
Just discovered your channel: we used to buy antiques there at Portets and it was always good value!
Well, that was fun!! Thank you for taking us with you:)
That was a beautiful commode that you showed us. If you love something and it's not in fashion; get all of it that you love and need because it will be cheap. Sometime down the road it will be in fashion again and everything will be more expensive.
The dresser is beautiful. Not in fashion, , a good time to buy. The paintings would have pride of place in any room. You two have wonderful taste.
That carpet was a thing of exceptional beauty.
French Frank to Dollar (there was no Eur) was around 1:8.6 in the 1990s so the carpet was estimated at 11,000 USD originally. Original price tag was left there on purpose of course. At a larger auction today it could have sold for $ 3-5,000 . At 1800 + commission it was a bit of a bargain for 100% silk carpet.
I love auctions! Thank you for sharing a French auction, such beautiful antiques! You were right Edd, paintings with horse subjects are valuable. Glad you got to by something Anna, look forward to seeing the chairs. ♥️
I love this! So much fun to watch. Got to do that again. Thank you. Hope you have a happy Christmas and a very prosperous, healthy and happy new year
