EP92 French Antiques Auction , Antique Sale , A Break From Renovation

French Antiques Auction , A Break From Renovation
It has been non stop and we are both tired but Edd's back needed an afternoon off !
So we went on a little date !
An Antique Sale in the near by Auction House .
It was also a way to give so many of you a little break from renovation :) and something else to see
So if you love antiques ... from cabinets , paintings , mirrors , armoires ...
Over the years we have found so many amazing pieces in the auction house
What we love about it is getting something for less as no one wants it or seeing that sometimes pieces go for so much more or the opposite don't sell at all ...
Edd has his eye on something beautiful will he be able to get it or will someone else outbid him ...
Huge Thank You to everyone for their Love & Support x
Special Thank You to all of our amazing Patrons x

Good Lord… why does it always seem like Ed is so rude to Anna? For the last few videos I keep thinking it’s all in my head, but low and behold he’s inconsiderate or just plain rude to her again. How upsetting to witness. Anna is so sweet!!!!

He may say, he buys nothing for you but in reality everything is for your happiness, including yours. It’s a subvertive way of looking at it and of loving you at the same time. He is simply being sneaky about it.

No its les romantic as it seems: in my country they call this: marryd whit cold paper(this says all) His parents the house was from: and always stays that way( thats ok and good) but all HE buys on his card: believe me thats also always his, not hers. Iam happy iam not married anymore to my ex for this reason: woman need to work (also) for theirselves: not only to make their husband better! And believe me it feels extremely cheap to only smile and never have the final word to buy something you just like :(

@@normamurray4450 not so sure: brat & rat. I admire Ed immensely for his talents and intelligence. This blog is fascinating. I grew up in a historic home and have restored older homes. My mom was an antiques dealer and I'm a designer so their endeavors and talents are appreciated. My impression is Ed doesn't allow Anna equal partnership (gives a little but he prioritizes the decisions and money). Frankly it's none of my business, it's their marriage. That is a beautiful and really reasonably priced, silk Persian carpet made in tabriz. Tabriz is very well known as the world centre of carpet weaving. Tabriz rugs usually have ivory backgrounds with blue, rose, and indigo motifs. They often feature symmetrical and balanced designs. They usually have a single medallion that is surrounded by vines and palmettos. The good rug is valued by its weaving style and the number of the knots that used in the weaving. Silk rugs usually very expensive and most of the time they are hanged on the walls like tapestries. And that is not a signature, it is the name of the style (old cherbani).

Loved this vlog! Very interesting to see the prices. Just FYI, Erard pianos are marketed as "the finest pianos in the world" and old, rare or art-case examples are worth 10s of thousands of USD (Chopin owned an Erard). The one you looked at is from the 1920s and would retail, unrestored for about €10,000. @8:20 this is not a desk it is a mid-19th-century English dressing table without its mirror, which is, I think, why they placed the beautiful 18th-century mirror where the original would have been. If it was a writing desk it would have had a writing surface probably made of inlaid leather. The drawer stacks, either side, was a common design feature and the support brackets for the mirror would have been attached to the top of each stack.

One thing that amazes me about any of the furniture pieces you show at the brocantes are at an amazing price. Here in the US if you go to an antique furniture store they have a price about three or four times higher than you have on them in France. But our paintings are cheaper over here than what they sell for over there. We are so sad that you move have to sell your home. It is so beautiful. We are praying there will be a way that you will be able to keep it. Love your videos.

It would be great to do another similar vlog, but pre auction. The auction house does online bidding so your viewers could bid. Just a thought. Thank you so much Anna for all the time you dedicate to editing. It’s not easy!

That was a beautiful commode that you showed us. If you love something and it's not in fashion; get all of it that you love and need because it will be cheap. Sometime down the road it will be in fashion again and everything will be more expensive.

The dresser is beautiful. Not in fashion, , a good time to buy. The paintings would have pride of place in any room. You two have wonderful taste.

French Frank to Dollar (there was no Eur) was around 1:8.6 in the 1990s so the carpet was estimated at 11,000 USD originally. Original price tag was left there on purpose of course. At a larger auction today it could have sold for $ 3-5,000 . At 1800 + commission it was a bit of a bargain for 100% silk carpet.
