EP68 - We finally got our twin stick setup all sorted out!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Sometimes, you have to be stubborn. Sometimes you have to decide it's worth it to take the tub off ONE MORE TIME! We have of both of those in this episode. And I'm quite sure there'll also be a spot where you're all yelling at me telling me to leave the long bolt where it was to begin with!
Just a reminder, since several of you have asked, this is a J B Custom Fabrication Dana 20 CJ Style Twin Stick Kit.

Thanks! Yeah, I do love the V8. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before we hear that thing come to life.

Epic video......I have two shifters in my 79 CJ5 but still not sure why.....or how to use them. This explains why I lock my hubs move one gear up and the wheels in front don't seem to be pulling

Very good. I have a D-20 as an extra T.C. that I took off a T-18 4 spd. I wanted to mount it to the old T-14 3 spd, but the linkage bars are too long. It's the J pattern. I think I can now shorten the bars.

When I started to look at this linkage first time I took it out of the box, I'll be honest, I thought to myself "I'll never get this sorted out" but it's actually not all that tough.

Thank you for the video. Did you remove the internal shift interlock pills?

Well, I didn't remove them as I didn't really know about them as I was installing the twin stick. Sounds like there's some chance of "locking up" the T-Case with them still in, so we'll see if I have to revisit that at some point in the future.

Does the transmission need to be in neutral to move the t case sticks into high, low, neutral? I'(m having some trouble moving the right stick (front axle) on the tcase into high range. The left stick for the rear axle is moving as it should into high, low, and neutral. I have a t18 transmission if that makes any difference.

With the clutch disengaged, neutral shouldn't be totally necessary. But if you're just trying to shift like I am, without the engine running, then I'd put the transmission in neutral so the output shaft is free to move a bit as everything lines up to allow the transfer case full freedom to engage/disengage high range.

Jim, I got the J B Custom Fabrication kit for the twin stick setup. I ordered the "long style" kit which is part number CJ20L. The website for them is www.jbfab.net.
