We camp in our solar powered campr van at the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Arizona and take our new gravel bikes up to Kofa Queen Canyon. It's a challenging uphill ride, but it is beautiful there in the Sonoran desert with the cholla and saguaro cacti and cool green leafless Palo Verde and spiky Mesquite trees.
When we finally get to the top we have lunch at a cool little cave, then ride back down to the van. This is a really beautiful ride with huge rock spires and a few natural windows and arches. When we get back to camp I make some beef and vegetable soup and we have a campfire. The next day is colder and a little rainy, so we decide to chase the sunshine and pack up camp and drive over to California...
