    Hi Scott. I have used Auto Magic compound by hand and even by hand it produces such good results. I have a detailing kit that I will practice with when I return home next month but yes, even being a very beginner detailer I had already thought of that..to just stick to only 1 compound and to 1 polish and stay loyal to them. Thanks for all your teachings

    Thanks for the beginner tips - I agree on the ‘’stick with a system approach’. I’ve been researching and the options out there can drive you crazy! KISS! I bought the Americana starter kit but the 1500/Finesse compounds are too thick so good to know I can cut them down with some water. I unintentionally used your pad soak trick but with a small amount of Wolfgang’s and water just so I could use the compounds on my old truck. Much smoother to work with after doing that. Now to watch and lean about wax and sealant. :-)

    Hey Scott, please answer this question. For my black Toyota tundra 3year old truck. I have McGuires m 105, d300, ultimate compound ,menzerna super finish 3 500 and now i have flash and flash pro. I want to do a 2step correction on 1 panel and im thinking just flash on the rest of the truck that already looks good. I'm going to wash, iron remover, clay, then use i think mineral spirits before the compound. Which of these would u use and which should i throw away? Love your microfiber towels, big drying towel and flash haven't used flash pro yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Shawn

  • @rayjay8322

    @rayjay8322

    If I'm outside under my shop overhang, I blow it off with air. If inside, I use a microfiber to wipe or brush off. If it's on a buffed surface, I just dust it off. If it's on unprepped surface, I wipe it off with detailer or something, just depends what the next step is to be.

  • @rayjay8322

    @rayjay8322

    On buffed surfaces it will mostly blow away. On unbuffed areas you will need to wipe away with microfiber and detailer spray or IPA or something like that. You must control residue at all times whether it's dead paint residue from buffing, dust from buffing or dried slung compound.

  • @rayjay8322

    Bruce, it just depends on how bad the paint is when you start. You can extend the use of a pad by using a pad brush to clean off a lot of the old paint out of the pad. Change pads when you no longer get the desired results from that step.

    3M™ Perfect-It™ is a diminishing product. It has it's place, but not as overall first use product. 105 and 205 give consistent and reliable results that you can depend on with perfecting the paint finish. Speaking of that, a glaze is nothing but a band aide. It hides imperfections.

    yes Harbor Freight DA will take 6" 5" and 3" backing plates plus its a small and cheap DA with enough power to get things done..better than the porter cable any day and cheaper!..DA like rupes and other large throw polishers have limitations and not always the best polisher for the job as you have noticed...thanks for your comment and i hope that helps:)

    Hell yeah, that helps. You just saved me a lot of money and headache. Where do you get your backing plates for the Harbor Freight DA?

    Wish you woulda done it on regular black. Looks great but imo metallic paint hides way more swirls and defects.

    I'm no professional but I say it depends on what you are using. I don't use a polisher for paste wax. For a liquid sealant I would most likely use a da to save my arm. I tried using the klasse aio and by hand is just fine. You use very little, its just wipe on, wipe off and sometimes using the da to me can be more of a pain. Klasse is so easy to spread I just go by hand. What you use as "wax" depends on what you want. I personally don't want to hand wax something all the time and like protection so I lean toward something with more protection and longer life and then usually wipe it down with spray wax after every wash to add some more pop to it.

    Also, after spending so much time washing, claying, 2 step correcting your paint. You may also want something with great protection and longevity because the more you have to put in major effort the less you may be willing to keep up with it.

    The Paint Prep sol. - The missing link! Need to know what ones you like and use. Here is the thing. Scott your right... you never shut up! But I am just bustin on ya. Know why you are successful, both "in the real world" as you would say, and on KZread? You are genuine. Authentic. The real deal. Yes you talk INCESSANTLY, yes you repeat yourself... often you repeat yourself. You repeat yourself a lot, lol. This is how I compliment you? But you do repeat yourself, you really repeat yourself a lot. Guess what? That's how people LEARN THINGS... by rote. If you could make US repeat the points you make it would be even better. Two Way KZread... coming to your home soon! Keep on keepin on. Yes, this is an old video. I am going to go find a really new one and put this same comment. I amy even repeat myself. Love ya... Take it slow.
