I think a lot of golfers even then liked nick for being so committed to what he needed to do at the cost of not being the blue eyed boy of the press. I remember him saying back in his peak on a BBC interview for him it was about trying his maximum to compete and win, when he couldn’t he would be done. But he could look back and know he had given his all and not gone through the motions

Great interview, lads. That was really interesting what Faldo said at the end about the fact that the tour pros usually only play the smae courses on the tour circuit and how businessmen will have played more of the top courses in the world than the tour pros. Also his perspective on a golf course without the grandstands in place was really interesting.

Different class. I watched Nick Faldo at the Muirfield Open. His long iron play was on another level. As he pointed out he was hitting drives 260 to 270 and firing the approach shots to under 15 feet every time. I watched from the green and to see him as a spec in the distance and the ball come thumping down on the green is a sight I will never forget. All done without a range finder just Fanny Suneson on the bag.

I grew up watching those last 6 holes on Sundays at the dinner table with my dad. I wish I realized the greatness I was witnessing back then. My dad would tell me the stories of Lee Trevino and the characters of the day. I remember being a Langer fan because of the way he dressed and Seve because of his swagger. Tom Watson and that whole era just rocked. I still watch golf on Sundays and miss my dad. There's still nothing like the last afternoon of a major.

One of the most inspiring things I remember from the 80s and 90s was the Nick Faldo charge. There was a point in the middle of that era (probably '90 when I was 18) when you knew it was coming - and it did. He was the Ian Botham of golf for lads of my generation: more controlled and disciplined than Beefy, of course, but with the same champion's flare. He was simply magnificent.

Fantastic interview, great questions, first class guest. Couldn’t ask for much more than this. Started by listening in while working...ended up holding my phone staring at it at times just wrapped up in the stories.

Best podcast you have done in my opinion. Sir Nick was great. Britain's and arguably Europe's best ever player. I would have loved it if Rick had ask him about getting down in two from 100 yards to beat Curtis Strange in the Ryder Cup. One of the great pressure situations

Best podcast yet, guys. I could listen to Faldo for days. We should also remember that the majority of us are only playing golf because of Sir Nick; he was our guy taking on and beating the world and inspired the next generations to get out on the course. Its a brilliant hour of top class listening - well done!

Wow, talking of feel and individual degrees of swing path… legend. I recall seeing sir Nick for the very first time in the early 80’s at Woburn when I was a boy… he hasn’t changed !!
