I visited Vienna during the worst covid situation and I didn't like it there, I don't know if it was because of covid or bad weather, but everything looked really sad and people were pretty rude there, we left 2 days before we planned. I hope it was just because of that stress from all those covid shits, maybe I will revisit Vienna one day. I am born in Prague and everyone says that Vienna looks very similar because of our common history and Austrian-Hungarian time architecture, but that was wrong, city is covered with grafitti and stickers, everything is under construction, original cobblestone sidewalks are flooded with asphalt which is ofcourse patched several times. I was like "wow, that looks like Prague 20 years ago" 😀 But I see some improvements in newer videos, some of those places look better now, they had to clean some buildings (like we did with our national museum which is white again) and they fixed some sidewalks, so, they probably realize that and work on that, we also have a lot of terrible places in Prague, but that progress in last 20 years is massive, but what was the most shocing for me in Vienna is how they treat some historical buildings, like there are some ugly 80s or 90s structures sticked to their gothic cathedral, I hope it was just something temporar due to roof reconstruction. There was some crazy hole into underground on that square and those tiles on ground are modern, it doesn't fit to medieval square at all, I was slightly shocked by that, because our sights keeper authorities would never allow anything like that here in Czechia. Unfortunately, damage which communists did during 40 years of their rule can't be easily fixed, that's why we have highway in front of national museum, but Vienna was west, so why it looks they same there like if they were behind iron curtain together with us? 😀
