Wow, this episode is such a time capsule! It really hints at the weird parasocial relationship that sort of took over TAZ's online fan spaces. I'm still kind of stunned both by the sheer joy and safety so many folks feel/felt in this show, but also at the wild entitlement some fans felt they had -- and maybe some still feel? -- to influence the direction of the show or criticize artistic decisions (not talking about genuine social concerns here, just the artistic disagreements). For me this episode is worth revisiting for that perspective alone, and as a reminder to myself that a parasocial relationship is exactly that: parasocial.
