Ep 74 - Make every moment count!

In this episode we take Uncle Belly to the Lombok Wildlife Park. A sanctuary for rescued animals. We have an incredible encounter with a baby Orangutang and we get to feed and meet all the animals as we make our way through the park, even getting to bathe an Elephant!
Shortly after this memorable visit we have some unexpected and very sad news. It enforces our reasoning for choosing this lifestyle, to make every moment count!

The highs and lows of your sailing journey. Loved the Orang-utan. How wonderful that the last days of your uncles life were spent with you and the family all having a wonderful time together. Sorry for your loss.

Another great episode gang!! Nice van, bet they had a chrome cigarette lighter and flashing ashtray! What a great place to visit and experience the wildlife. The Black Cockatoo was fabulous, what an experience you all had especially with the Elephants, looked like you were feeding them mangoes? and it was far less crowded than Australia Zoo. The orangutan was so gorgeous, he or she would go well on the Excelsior with the mast rigging hey. Brodys got a mate for life now, thank you for the pleasure of allowing us to join you all. Take care, be safe and God Bless you all 👍🙏😇🇦🇺⛵️

Thanks guys. The animals were well taken care of and seemed happy. Kikki didn't miss a trick. She knew Brodie had injured his leg and was very curious about him. We made precious memories and are so glad Uncle Belly got to see the animals!

It was a big shock. We are still trying to come to terms with it. We had plans to have him aboard again in Thailand. He had just retired and was so looking forward to exploring South East Asia, so we are very sad that his time was cut so short. Belly was such a positive and compassionate man and we will miss him dearly. We have dedicated a spot on Excelsior to honour his memory and remember all the precious times we shared with him aboard Excelsior.

@@sailingexcelsior How did the process of getting your son's ACL repaired go in Bali? I noticed he had his knee wrapped.

@anthonycook1406 fortunately it ended up being a small fracture in the top of his tibia (confirmed by MRI) which only required a brace and 6 weeks non load bearing. We managed to keep him off it but he continued to wear the brace for months afterwards whilst exercising or surfing etc.

@@sailingexcelsior Thank you for visiting Indonesia. I like your videos, not only sharing sailing experiences but also sharing knowledge and information about the areas you visit. it's more valuable for people who haven't had the chance to visit. I hope I have the opportunity to do the same thing as you do. Keep up the good work, I'm waiting for the next video, thank you.

A first rate wildlife park, especially with the rescue work. Tropical birds, elephants, orangutan, gibbon, python... cute Sun Bear. Lotsa hands-on stuff. An awful epilogue, though. Condolences.

There were many more too! It was very tragic. We are all heartbroken. Belly loved our way of life and told us so. Tomorrow is never guaranteed so we need to make every moment count 🙏🏼
