Ep. 6: Snow Camping in the Winter Wonderland with iKamper Annex Plus [Electric heating pad, ASMR]

Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of our winter series! This time, we set off on a local trail, eager to find a special spot for our snow camping adventure. And boy, did we strike gold - we found ourselves in an absolutely enchanting winter wonderland.
Imagine a secluded spot, untouched and covered in a blanket of fresh snow, just waiting for us to set up camp. It was like stepping into a private, peaceful world, away from everything else.
There, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the snow, we found warmth not just from our gear, but in the simple pleasures of life - a bowl of warm stew, cups of steaming tea, and hearty food that tasted extra delicious in the chilly air. It's these little things that make winter camping so special.
Our Annex Plus proved to be a superstar, keeping us cozy and comfortable even in the frosty outdoors. As we sat there, snug and happy, we couldn't help but raise our mugs to you all, sending warm holiday wishes from our snowy slice of heaven.
So, come along and join us in this episode as we embrace the joys of snow camping. Let's celebrate the beauty of winter together!

    Hi awesome setup! I have something very similar with the ikamper mini 2. I was wondering if you use the memory foam mattress during the winter. I find it really transfers the cold like a heatsink in the winter and wonder how the new inflatable air mattress style bed works during the winter. Also wondering if you have tried the interior insulation, if so how do you find it?

  • @silentfamily

    @silentfamily

    I've been using the factory mattress, but luckily, the iKamper mattress has an insulation layer at the bottom. I’ve used an insulation tent for skycamp 2.0, which helps maintain temperature and reduces condensation. 👌

    Do you have one of the doors to the annex open when you run the firepit? How are you venting the fumes? Just got an iKamper mini and looking to do something similar

    Hi, thanks for watching and great question. I left side windows half opened in the RTT, so it ventilates itself. The firepit takes up lots of space inside, so I'll try something different next time.

    Hello sir very nice video. Actually i want to buy an ikamper 3.0 with its annex plus, and i have a mercedes sprinter with a high roof (285cm car high from the ground) will this annex fit or its going to be a bit high from the ground especially when im going to add some roof rack to hold the tent wich going to add some extra 10 centimetres in the total high of the tent from the ground. So to conclude will this annex support 295cm in high from the ground or its going to be lifted off the ground (are the pin rings going to be lifted off the ground ). Looking forward to hear from you and thanks again for your awesome videos.

    Hi, Annex is designed to work when the tent sits on top of a 180 - 195cm high roof rack. You know, 285cm is very high. Sprinter is very high, haha. You won’t be able to reach your arm and grab things to operate. 😭 How about a decent vehicle awning from a company like ARB and adding a wall/room kit?

Btw Can you please suggest some brands for me? And thanks again sir.

    That is Kovea 3-Way All-in-One I purchased about 5 years ago, back in Korea. I find it to be an excellent product, but the price in North America is absurd. As a result, I am currently in the process of developing my own version with a manufacturing partner, which I hope to release early next year.

    Hi, great question. BTO doesn’t carry Snowpeak but I’m consistently researching and reviewing all the possible options, including Snowpeak. FYI, I’m developing a few different storage solutions with my buddy back in Korea and am about to order some other types of samples from China as well. If there is anything that I’d like to recommend, I’ll try my best to make it available at BTO. And my wife is a super shy person. 😊 Being there is already a miracle, lol. We’ll see how it goes. 🤞 Thank you! Oh, this spot is located mid-way to Foley lake in Chilliwack.

    Using a diesel-based heater will prevent the moisture build-up. That said, using a diesel-based heater won't give off the nice ambience of a flame.

    I wonder how long that propane lasts for the firepit? Do you sleep with it all night or turn it off?

  • @silentfamily

    @silentfamily

    It lasts for months if we only use it for the stove. However, with the fire pit, it only lasts for around 20-30 hours I think, depending on the strength of the fire. We don't use propane while sleeping, though.
