Timing belt engine. Mine was done at 150000 miles when I purchased it. Owner said belt was in great shape. I believe Toyota recommends replacing at 100000 miles. Necessary to change water pump, thermostat and radiator at this time. Rear lift gate latch/handle will break. The "D" for drive gear light bulb will go out. Back window will function will break. The vehicle will go 1 million miles. Best vehicle on the planet. I used strut spacers so I could clear 265 tires. Aloha!

Good morning Josh! Just ripped through your videos last night and finished up this morning. We have twin Sequoias (mine is an 03 though)! Same color, SR5, etc. Anyways, I picked mine up a few months ago and I love that thing! Your videos are fantastic and I'm really pumped to get this project rolling now! The only thing missing is the money 😂😂 As soon as I've got the cash I'm going to go crazy on your site. I wish I could express just how appreciative I am that you took the time to make these videos with such clear instructions and direction. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the future holds! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and share all this great info, super helpful! I am very interested in picking up a Sequoia and going with a similar 33” set up. If you ever have the time, would you mind taking a measurement from the ground to the roof of the car. I’m wondering if this will fit in our condo complex garage, or going to have to be parked outside. Thank you again!
Had a set on my 04 Sequoia. They are great tires. My only complaint was the wear life. I drive dirt roads everyday and found that the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor outlast the BFG. Both were 10 ply.

Nice job. I now understand offfset.
Great video! I will be doing a 2 1/2 to 3 inch lift in the front with diff. 1" drop and I like your lift in the back with the the new springs and the second shocks it looks good. I will I want to go up just a little bit more then yours is. So she's at least level in the front with the back maybe a little less. But would like to keep mud flaps on. I have a 2002 SR5 with leather seats Burgundy and gray fender exits. Will check out the wheels with -6 rake on them. I like the copper tires better then BFs.
On my Sequoia I put on some all terrain Bridgestone Duelers, I took off all my mudflaps, I like the look better. No running boards makes it look lifted as well with a great look.

Dude the guy I bought my Sequoia from pretty much copied exactly what you did lol. He kept the rear end airbags and did the ride height on the bottom ring on the front suspension then put ) 315 (34.4 inch) KO2's with the Fuel Anza rims with the -6mm offset 17's. Rubbed on the upper control arm and frame on the inside and a bit on the fender wheel on the outside. Got some 255/80/17's on it now. They look so much dinkier, but no rub and it drives amazing now. Just wanted to let you know, you influenced some choices here.
Hey Josh, great vid. Just had a quick question as I just picked up a 2002 Sequoia and Im looking to raise it a bit. I was checking out the Daystar 2.5" Body Lift Kit with strut and coil spacers and was wondering your take on it? Wanting to fit the same 33'' tires without breaking the bank. Thanks!
What would you suggest for both street and off road? I literally know nothing about tires unless they are tires that go on 18 wheelers. I am about to purchase a very nice 1st gen sequoia. My plan is to haul a power washing trailer with 2 200 gallon water jugs and some other pressure washing equipment. I want to be able to get decent fuel mileage but still have the capability to go off road.
Thanks for your videos man I have 2004 sequoia and I did the 4600's with spacers at front and new 2" coilspring on the rear and it looks sick!!! Just saving up to get bigger tires. I've thinking on installing a dual magnaflow exhaust. What do you think?

I always thought the hub centric issue was about wheel spacers. Some spacers have no hub centric ring and in my line of thought that's a big negative attribute.
Hey Josh. What kind of MPG did you get before and after this video?
No alignment needed??? I'm going go with toytec 3 inch lift, stock wheels with 295/70r 17 km3 or toyo mt, I'm certain I'll need a 1.5 inch wheel spacer for clearance/rubbing. I just really like the stock rims. 2004 limited, thanks for your videos man!!!! You are a blessing for us who are starting what I feel to be the next hot item! Size, power, looks comfort!! I loved my 80's series!! But I will die with this rig!!!!
@1stgenoffroad

No. Alignment is needed. Don’t go with the Toytec kit. The rear shocks are too short and you’ll regret it. Ask Toytec how long the rear shocks are and then watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jG2W1riPhrjFgag.html

I just made it down payment 15 grand for parts getting all the best crap getting my Sequoia gen 1 05 lifted I'm having a three and a half inch lift 35 inch tires getting new fenders that flare out getting a suspension. It's probably going to run me around 22000 to 23,000 I'm getting Jeep Summit 4 by 4 in Prescott Arizona to do it they are higher-priced and everyone else but the quality is unbeatable you definitely get what you pay for these guys... they will definitely be doing some cutting on it especially in the back because they can't find a rear fender that will fit so they will have to cut it out because 35 inch tires won't work without cutting.
yeah on flat ground but other rubs spots might show up when turning and suspension is articulated.

If you're not going to lift the truck, I would go with these. Bilstein's. Adjustables up front set to the 1st notch/lowest notch. These shocks are good for. 0-2" lift. @Prototheria
6 жыл бұрын
Poly won't soften the ride. It'll make it harsher because it doesn't deflect and deform as much as rubber does, so more vibrations and bumps from the road will be transmitted through your frame. They also won't last as long as the rubber bushings, either. Keep the bushings OEM if they're worn. However, at 140k, I doubt they need to be replaced.
Thanx for making this

Off topic but do you think 33s are too much for the 3.4l tundra to handle? Trying to decide on a wheel size for my overland rig
@1stgenoffroad
Жыл бұрын
Nope. Have that size tire on my 3.4 4Runner.
Timing belt vehicle engine. Replace with ONLY Aisin parts. Mine was changed at 150000 miles and was in great shape. Toyota recommends replacing at 100000 miles. MUST replace timing belt, radiator, upper, low hoses and water pump at the same time to have confidence in the cooling system. Rear lift gate latch will break. Replace it with an ALL metal one. The rear window function will break in time. I just do not roll mine down. The "D" indicator for the drive gear position light bulb will go out. The vehicle will go 1 million miles. 190000 miles on mine and runs like a champ. Best vehicle ever made. Just wish mine was a 4X4. Alo)(a!
Do you offer a military discount by any chance?
Google BFG Ko2 Dry Rot. You'll find all kinds of negative things about them. They only last about 2 years before they dry rot. If you go through tires faster than that then you'll be fine. I had KO2s on my 1st gen Tundra and replaced them when they had 60% tread left because two of them wouldn't hold air from being dry Rotted so bad. I replaced them with Terra Grapplers which were meh. So far the best OR tire I've owned is Cooper Discoverer AT/3

I’m trying to do the same but with my stock rims, so you did raise it? Or left it alone?

Yeah. 2” lift. Can get everything at 1stgeniffroad.com

I bought some factory 4runner limited 20"s what tire size would you recommend for 1st gen sequioa no lift ?

Maybe look up "First Gen Tundras" on facebook and ask there.
Is there ANY benefit, off road, to having 20" wheels on this year/model vehicle?

because the lack of center diff or why? That was my thought. In 4Lo 1st gear I guess there's a benefit, if that's the only center diff lock for 01 02's.
Would those tires fit the stock rim? I have the 265/65/17 right now. Looking to go 275/70/17, stock rims. Thoughts?

They would fit the rim, but you’ll need a 1.25” wheel spacer on the front, or you’ll get rubbing on the upper control arm and frame.

Awesome! Shoukd I get a spacer on the rear as well to ensure the distance they stick out is the same front to back?

Yeah, I would.
Has any one put a -12 offset wheel, I saw 1st gen tundra that was lifted with bilstein's 6112 with - 12 offset on, Rotors 88 channel.
What sliders can be made to fit these rigs?
Will arb rear springs give the 2" lift with oem rear struts?
@1stgenoffroad

I would't do that,. I would also add the ARB 60020L shocks here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p196/OME60020LRearShock.html#/
Can you fit 33s on a straight stock 02 sequoia????
Hey, I'm curious as to why you switched rear shocks. I have 2006 Sequoia RWD. Are the shocks different from a 4WD?
@1stgenoffroad

I switched to a longer shock to accommodate the taller spring.
For someone that knows nothing about this, will wheels and tires fit without a lift or does my sequoia need to be lifted first?
@1stgenoffroad

You need to lift. Even 2" will allow these to fit.
