EP 44: Installing Raymarine's Autopilot & Integration to your B&G NMEA 2000 Backbone - The easy way!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this episode we walk you through the unboxing of our Raymarine Evolution Wheel Autopilot, the installation of the Wheel component and the wiring of the electronics that support it.
One thing that we found out through talking to Raymarine is that you do not need to use the SeaTalk network. You can actually connect this system directly into a NMEA 2000 Backbone.
We are only covering the installation on this video and the basic setup. I will do another video describing the configuration and how we make Raymarine talk to our B&G Vulcan Chartplotter.
Enjoy!

I just posted a video showing how to update the B&G Triton 2 and how to create Routes on the Navionics Mobile App, how to export to the B&G App, and how to Synch the B&G App with the Vulcan Chartplotter. I will have one of the interaction between the B&G Vulcan Chartplotter and the Raymarine Wheel Autopilot soon.
Best install vid for this product I have seen, thanks

Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you for the great video! I will be installing the same autopilot on my Pearson 303 very soon. I have watched several videos on the EV -100 and your video is one of the best. I think you have a Pearson 303 also. Take care,

I'm getting ready to put an EV-100 on my Pearson 32. Finally a video showing the complete install on the wheel with a similar setup to mine.
nice video. I just got my unit and looking though the box and all the wires I'm a little intimidated . Hopefully it goes on smooth like yours.

It was actually pretty straight forward. Everything is color coded. If you are connecting to other Raymarine equipment is pretty easy. In my case I was connecting to a NMEA2000 so I had to make a special end on a cable to do that. Raymarine provided the pin setup for it. I am in the process of making another video where I installed the Rudder Sensor and did the Calibration for the P70 unit. Should be out in about a week.
How is the integration with a Raymarine Autopilot and B&G Vulcan and Triton? Is there a follow up video?

The Autopilot is integrated into the NMEA 2000 network. I just have not had a chance to do the video. Will work on it over the next couple of weeks.
Great video!! Which Seaview pod did you use?

Seaview Sail Rail Pod for Single Marine Instrument, White, SP1S. I ordered it from Amazon at the time.
Excellent video, thank you! I'm sailing a Bavaria 33 cruiser with Raymarine instrumentation and just got a B&G Zeus 3s chartplotter. You mentioned a second video concerning set-up of your Raymarie-B&G system. Have you done it? Best regards from the North Sea!

does the control unit hook into existing nmea 2000 and just talk with chartplotter and such?

I connected mine to the NMEA 2k network. Raymarine provided the pin configuration so I could make the cable to connect directly. The other way to do this is to get a converter from Seatalk to NMEA 2k.
how doe sthe motor attach to anything? didnt see how that was hooked up?

The motor is screwed on the back side of the autopilot wheel. The post I attached to the pedestal provides an anchor that keeps everything static so the motor can spin the autopilot and at the same time your steering wheel. Hope this answers your question.
Hi A great video! Will the raymarine ev follow a route set in the BnG Vulcan ? Thanks from the UK!

I am working on sorting all of that out. I believe the only thing I will be able to do is waypoint routing, but may need one more component to do that. I will do a video of it once I sort it out. Thank you for watching!

how do you removed the wheel? just pull it? or do I have to insert something
@HomesBoatsTravelbyJoseTorres

There is a nut that holds the wheel in place. There is also a key on the wheel shaft. Once you remove the nut, pull gently on the wheel it should slide out. Be careful you do not lose the key.

@@HomesBoatsTravelbyJoseTorres I took the cap off and it looked like the wheel was screwed in. I'll try to slide it then, thanks!

@@HomesBoatsTravelbyJoseTorres I'm not sure what you mean by there is a key though, will see how it goes tomorrow

@@sailingdev There is a notch cut on the shaft where the wheel is mounted. The key is a 1/2 moon shaped piece of metal that keeps the wheel from just spinning on the shaft. When you remove the wheel you will see what I mean. 😀
