Ep. 3: Surface Iron Yellowtail // Catch & Cook
Спорт
The amount of fish we casted at this day could've fead a whole village, but sometimes you just can't get fish to cooperate.
We chased bird school after bird school after bird school, and couldn't hook a single yellowtail, bonito, or Sierra mackerel!
After sticking with it for hours, we finally got into a short flurry of biting fish at nearly the last hour of the day!
After the yellowtail finally started to cooperate and cabriole started to bite a little bit, it started to get too windy and we had to call it.
Definitely a grind, but overall a great day in Bay of LA / Bahía de Los Ángeles!

Literally nothing better!
I stayed at the same hotel in your opening scene. Right next to the boat ramp. Their black dog will bring you a plastic chair to sit down.

Do you have a prefferred baitcast setup that can handle casting distance as well as 100lb tuna?

The only bait caster that’s capable of it would be a tranx 500. Not to say a 400 size bait caster can’t do it, but if you plan on casting at +100lb then the tranx 500 with 65lb or 80lb braid would be your best option. Personally, I would rather cast a conventional reel at bigger tuna just for the extra line capacity

@@Dirty.Hookers Thats what I meant, conventional. Id like it to do Tile fish as well as tuna casting so its gotta be a conventional. What is your preferred conventional?

Lol I used to want a Ballast point sponsor, but I had to stop drinking beer. I think it triggers my gout, so that’s the biggest reason why I had to switch to seltzers unfortunately
Had a question? How do you book this trip or how do we contact the captain? Shit looks dope.

My buddy booked it for us, not sure if he went through Facebook or what. I’ll ask him how he booked, and I’ll try to find a business card Joel gave me before we left
