Ep. 271 | Pulsar Thermion Duo DXP55 **DAY/NIGHT REVIEW**

Спорт

One of the biggest perks of Hans and Jason's job is getting to test all the newest thermal technology as it comes to the hunting and outdoor market. On this episode they are reviewing the new multi-spectral Pulsar Thermion Duo DPX55 thermal rifle scope. So what does multi-spectral mean? It means this scope has both a high resolution 640 thermal sensor AND a full color 4K resolution digital daytime sensor in one scope housing. This allows the DXP55 to function fully as both a daytime hunting optic and a night hunting thermal optic. Watch as they review this scope and offer up the comparison between it and the new Thermion Duo DXP50 and let you know the similarities and differences in these two great new scopes.

*** Why Hunt Hogs? ***
Our journey into wild/feral hog hunting started like many others living in rural communities. We didn't start hog hunting for fun or sport... we did it because we had to. You see, hogs cause millions of dollars of damage and destruction each year in rural communities and our situation was no different. Hogs were destroying our land and that our of friends and family. The vast majority of hunting stories that you hear about on this channel are hogs, boars and sows, taken from family land... this problem is personal for us...

*** Why Hunt Coyotes and Predators? ***
Coyotes and Predators, similar to hogs, cause financial stress for many families in rural communities. Coyotes kill livestock, plain and simple. Ranchers have battled coyotes killing cattle since the early days of ranching and it costs them dearly. Cattle ranching is a business, the cows aren't pets, every time they lose a calf to a coyote those families lose a paycheck. Cattle ranchers hate coyotes just as much as Farmers hate hogs! We hunt coyotes to protect the livelihood of our friends and neighbors that depend on their cattle business to feed their family...

    Another great show, gents. Regarding the color difference on that video from Europe. I believe DXP50 was using an older version of FW, now it's the same on both DXP50 and DXP55

    That’s really great info. We’d seen several comments from people claiming the DXP55 had a better image and was superior to to DXP50. And we knew they had just watched that video, which wasn’t a fair representation of both scopes. Glad to know it was just an older firmware version.

    @@TheLateNightVisionShow what also could have been the case if the light is a bit low, wider lens of DXP55 might be able to take in a bit more light, leading to nicer day time image.

    Great review, still unsure whether to go for the Dxp50 or the 55, I have the 50 on demo right now and hunt deer both in the woods and in open country In the UK. Also have the Krypton 2 on demo with a picatinny mount (psp-v) which is a great improvement over the scope mount setup. Keep up the great work.

    How’s the psp-v an improvement? I have the scope mount setup, but I am considering the psp-v so would like to hear your experiences with it.

    On your video you were showing “low light” on the color Chanel. What is meant by low light? Is the picture better than the naked eye at low light conditions? Great video

  • @TheLateNightVisionShow

    @TheLateNightVisionShow

    No, the unit is not better or even quite as good as your naked eye in low light. In very low light conditions you need to switch to the thermal channel.

    Wish there was a trade in program. I want the DXP55 but need to sell my XP50 Pro first. I’m currently taking 2 guns to the stand.

    Thermal trade ins are never a good deal for the person trading. If you put the scope up for sale for anywhere near what you’ll get on a trade, you’ll have a buyer quickly. Selling out right is always a better option unless you really just want ti get rid of the scope and aren’t concerned with maximizing value. Dealers just have a hard time moving used thermal optics unless they are really cheap and they assume an absolute ton of risk and future customer service. If you get it sold, Hans and Jason would love to have your business!

    @@TheLateNightVisionShowSo I was able to sell my XP50 Pro to my buddy. With only 1 more hunting trip for me until next season. Should I wait on a new purchase until after Shot Show? Want DXP55 but wondering what is coming in 2024. Thoughts?

    You have to zero both the day time and thermal separately because it’s two different lenses and the zeros will be different. Thanks for watching!

    How does the DXP55 compare to the bolt th50c v2?

  • @TheLateNightVisionShow

    @TheLateNightVisionShow

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s not a fair comparison since the DXP55 thermal is a 2x and the TH50C is a 3.5x. They have extremely different intended uses so they can’t be practically compared. If you’d like to discuss it in more detail and see which is right for you feel free to give us a call. They are both great scopes just very different. We would say that the daytime capabilities are going to be in the 300-500 yard range on something like a whitetail deer.

    Do you ever (say next year or so) expect to see a DUO with a LRF or is this a bridge to far for right now?

  • @TheLateNightVisionShow

    @TheLateNightVisionShow

    Жыл бұрын

    Obviously since these units are brand new to the market Pulsar isn’t discussing future models yet but it seems like it could happen in the future. There would have to be a totally new design since the day sensor is sitting right where the LRF goes, so it would take a whole lot of engineering to make it work but in theory it seems possible they’d do it. Thanks for watching!
